There’s a quiet thrill in trying to make something feel alive with nothing but charcoal and paper. I love the challenge of drawing wildlife in a way that makes it jump off the page, not just as a technical exercise, but as a way to connect people to the natural world in an unexpected, almost intimate way. I set myself a limit: two pencils. Just a - Conté à Paris Pierre Noire and a - General’s Charcoal Hard. That’s it. It forces me to focus on light, on form, on shadow. On telling the whole story with the smallest number of tools. I love that. I love trying to create depth and emotion into a minimalist composition with no background, no distractions, just the animal and the illusion of depth pulling you in. I’ve always drawn with Georgia my daughter. Each piece is something we build together in our latest series Baby Paws it’s her paw prints, my animals.
