The proposed system is envisioned as a fully integrated counter-UAS solution, comprising a Drone Sensor, a Drone Catcher unit with four interceptors per system, and a Ground Control Station (GCS) for command, control, and mission management. Designed for future battlefields, the system must support autonomous detection, launch, interception, recovery, and reusability, significantly reducing operator workload and reaction time. As per the technical and operational requirements, the system must be capable of detecting 0.01 m² RCS targets at ranges up to 4 km, addressing the growing threat posed by small, stealthy drones. It is required to operate effectively at high-altitude locations up to 4,500 metres, making it suitable for deployment across India’s mountainous and forward areas. Electronic warfare capability forms a key pillar of the requirement. The Drone Catcher System must offer directional jamming up to 5 km and omni-directional jamming of at least 2 km, enabling both hard-kill and soft-kill options against hostile drones. Crucially, the system must be capable of seamless integration with AKASHTEER, the Indian Army’s automated air defence command and control network, ensuring real-time data sharing and coordinated responses.
