Preconstruction can make or break a project and the more information that team has to plan things now, the less things that need to get figured out later in the field. 3 things I learned the hard way after buying my first drone. 1. 43 minutes of flight time goes by a heck of a lot faster than you’d think. Keep in mind too that with 20% battery left, your drone will automatically return to home, decreasing real flight time to less than 35 min per charge. 2. Getting your required FAA Part 107 license will be harder than actually flying the drone. You need to learn aeronautical charts, airspace classifications, and weather patterns among other things. 3. People will not always be excited to see you flying a drone. Some people get upset and often assume you’re filming them, even if you’re just admiring the landscape from above. Be prepared to manage onlookers while in flight.
