Squint (Strabismus) in children can be inward or outward deviation of the eyes. Some forms, like intermittent squint, may not threaten vision, while others need early and urgent care—especially if there is no improvement in the first few months of life. With timely diagnosis and proper treatment such as spectacles or therapy, many children can achieve good visual outcomes. Early eye examination is key to preventing long-term vision problems. #Squint #Strabismus #PediatricOphthalmology #EyeHealth #visioneyecentre (vision eye centre, eye specialist in delhi, eye doctor in south delhi, dr. smita kapoor, squint in children, eye care, eye treatment, trending reel, explore page, instagram, viral reel)

A 7-year-old child visited many doctors and hospitals, but the condition remained undiagnosed. She was only advised multivitamin syrup, eye drops, and glasses. After detailed examination, she was diagnosed with Congenital Oculomotor Nerve Palsy in the left eye with severe movement limitation. The left eye vision is only PL/PR, indicating severe Amblyopia. I have recommended early squint surgery for better alignment and binocular vision, followed by patching therapy. Awareness: If you or anyone in your family or friend circle has Strabismus, always consult a squint specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment. Pediatric (Children) Eye Diseases 🤔🤔🤔 Children's eyes are still developing, which makes early detection of eye problems especially critical. Unlike adults, kids often don't realize their vision is abnormal because they have no reference point for what "normal" sight feels like. Here's a clear overview of the most common pediatric eye conditions every parent and caregiver should know. Amblyopia (Lazy Eye) This is the most common cause of vision impairment in children. It occurs when one eye develops poorer vision than the other, and the brain gradually begins to "ignore" signals from the weaker eye, favouring the stronger one. Over time, this can lead to permanent vision loss in the affected eye if not treated early. The good news is that it responds very well to treatment when caught in time — usually through patching the stronger eye (to force the brain to use the weaker one) or prescription glasses. The brain is highly adaptable in young children, which is why early intervention, ideally before age 7, gives the best outcomes. Strabismus (Squint) Strabismus is a condition where the two eyes don't point in the same direction — one may turn inward, outward, upward, or downward. This misalignment means both eyes are not working as a team, and the brain may start suppressing one eye's image to avoid double vision — which can then lead to amblyopia. So these two conditions are closely linked. Treatment includes glasses, patching, eye exercises, or surgery depending on severity. Congenital Cataract While cataracts are commonly associated with aging, babies can be born with them. A cataract is a clouding of the eye's natural lens, which normally allows light to pass through clearly. When this is present at birth, it can severely obstruct vision during the most critical period of visual development. Surgery is usually required quite early — sometimes within weeks of birth — to prevent permanent blindness. After surgery, the child will likely need glasses and patching therapy to help the visual system develop properly. #eyes #kidsvision #eyecare #ophthalmology #optometry

Strabismic amblyopia (lazy eye due to squint) can silently reduce vision in one eye and is more harmful if ignored. Timely consultation with a squint specialist is essential, as early management with patching therapy, glasses, orthoptic exercises, or surgery can restore vision, improve appearance, and boost confidence. Do not delay treatment due to common societal myths about squint—early decisions save vision and personality. Dr. Muhammad Asmat Rasheed Eye & Squint Specialist Lecturer - The University of Lahore

Squint eye (strabismus) is a condition where the eyes are misaligned, pointing in different directions (inward, outward, upward, or downward) instead of focusing on the same object. Predominantly affecting children, it can also occur in adults . Common symptoms include crossed eyes, double vision, and eye strain . Treatment, which is often successful, includes glasses, eye exercises (patching), or surgery . Key Aspects of Squint Eye (Strabismus): Primary Causes: Misalignment occurs due to an incorrect balance of eye muscles, nerve damage, or significant refractive errors (like high farsightedness or myopia). Symptoms: One eye turns inward, outward, upward, or downward while the other remains focused. Other symptoms include double vision (diplopia), loss of depth perception, and eye strain. Risk Factors: Childhood illnesses, a strong family history of the condition, and premature birth. Treatment Options: Spectacles/Glasses: Often used to correct underlying refractive errors. Patching: Covering the "good" eye to force the weaker eye to work harder, treating associated amblyopia (lazy eye). Surgery: Eye muscle surgery is often required to tighten or loosen specific muscles, correcting the alignment, notes Max Healthcare. Vision Therapy: Specialized eye exercises, such as pencil push-ups. Potential Complications: If left untreated, it can lead to permanent reduced vision in one eye, known as amblyopia or "lazy eye".

Here is an example of a young patient suffering from diplopia. At first he didn’t complain about it because he taught that was normal. His parents only brought him to the clinic concerned about the eye turn. A consultation and eye check-up, helped him understand what he was seeing and we showed it to his parents. Good thing, after a few sessions of in-clinic vision therapy together with highly specialized lenses, his eyes are now looking better and his vision is no longer double.
