[ℹ️👇] This is your sign to add East Java to your Indonesia itinerary! COMMENT “GUIDE” and I’ll send you the exact tour I used! 📍East Java, Indonesia 🇮🇩 Mt Bromo sunrise tour (wake up at 1am to see Bromo sunrise is amazing! Then you go to the actual crater too). Tumpak Sewu waterfall (steep wet hike down, take water shoes, super worth it!) Kabut Pelangi waterfall (Easy 5 min hike to the viewpoint. If you want to go down into the valley to the falls it’s probs another 30 mins) Kawah Ijen hike + sulfur lake + blue fire (I really don’t recommend the blue fire part. Extreme overtourism and I’d say almost dangerous. I wish I’d just gone to the lake in the daytime, colour is lovely and everyone is gone by 7am) 📌SAVE for your next trip to Indonesia! 👉🏻FOLLOW @danhaywoodtravels for more tropical island inspiration! #eastjava #indonesia #mtbromo #kawahijen #tumpaksewu

From the moment we landed in Java, I knew this journey would hit different. Malang felt like the perfect introduction to Java, a mix of calm streets and local life, well needed before the 4 upcoming sleepless night. One of the most unforgettable experiences was visiting the colorful village (Kampung Warna-Warni). Every street was painted in vibrant colors, like a living rainbow. But what truly stayed with me? The people. They weren’t used to seeing travelers like us, and at almost every step, someone would smile, stop us, and ask for a picture 🥹 Then came Tumpak Sewu and nothing could’ve prepared me for that. We hiked down into a hidden jungle, surrounded by not just one, but hundreds of waterfalls cascading all around us. The descent was intense, slippery, muddy but worth every sratch. And then, the highlights of Java : Mount Bromo and Kawah Ijen 🔥 Both nights started the same : waking up at 11PM, exhausted but excited to realize one of my dream : reaching the crater’s blue flames ; a science project I worked on in college, and since this day, Kawah Ijen was an obsession. Anyways, nothing would have gotten us out of bed, except chasing volcanoes 🌋 We hiked in the dark, under the stars, just to reach the summit right in time for sunrise watching the sky slowly light up over surreal landscapes. Mount Bromo looked like something from another planet, it was vast, smoky, I will never forget the crater’s boiling sound. But Kawah Ijen… that was an experience on another level. We hiked in the middle of the night to witness the rare blue flames, a natural phenomenon caused by sulfuric gases igniting as they come into contact with oxygen. These electric blue flames only appear in complete darkness, which means you have to hike fast to reach them before sunrise. The crater itself holds one of the most toxic lakes on Earth, with a pH close to 0.2. The air is filled with sulfuric gases, so wearing a mask is a must. And somehow, in the middle of all that, we still dared to dip our fingers in for a second, just for the story (don’t try this 😅) Java challenged us, surprised us, and completely blew us away with it’s raw beauty, would do it again a hundred times ✨

Best places of East Java! 🇮🇩 📍Tumpak Sewu Waterfall - probably the best waterfall in Indonesia! Hike down is steep but totally worth it 🙌🏻 📍Mount Bromo - viewpoint is a must visit spot for sunrise. You can choose a jeep tour or do it by yourself. Walk along the edge of the crater is a unforgettable experience! 🌋 📍Mount Ijen - is like no other volcano in the world! It is home to the world’s largest acidic crater lake and blue fire 🔥 📍De Djawatan Forest - best to visit early in the morning for the best light and beautiful pictures without crowds 📸 📍Coban Talun Waterfall - only a short drive from Malang and hike down is simple, takes 20 minutes to reach the massive falls! 🌿 📍Kampung Warna Warni (Rainbow Village) - the most colorful rainbow village you have ever seen! Great place for a short walk 🌈 📌 Save this post for your next trip to Indonesia 🇮🇩 (🇵🇱 Polski opis znajdziecie w przypiętym komentarzu 📌) #bromomountain #bromo #eastjava #theheartofeastjava #java #javaindonesia #bromomountain #bromotravel #bromotour #bromoindonesia #bromotenggersemeru #ijen #ijencrater #ijenmountain #mountijen #tumpaksewu #dedjawatan #djawatanforest #cobantalun #indonesia #kampungwarnawarni

EAST JAVA FAMILY GUIDE 🇮🇩🌋 After chasing waterfalls, hiking volcanos, and wandering through otherworldly forests with our little adventurers, here’s our honest, no-filter breakdown of East Java’s most epic spots - what wowed us, what felt “meh,” and the hidden corners we’ll be dreaming of forever: 🌋 Bromo Crater – 9/10 Iconic, surreal, and not crowded if you go when all the jeep tours left. Volcanic noise, and that wild Martian landscape = unforgettable. 🌿 Coban Ciblungan – 5/10 Cute and calm, but didn’t quite wow us after seeing the big-name waterfalls. Nice for a quick cool-down stop. 🔥 Ijen Blue Fire – 7/10 A wild experience, but intense with kids. The blue flames are cool (literally and figuratively), but the crowds are real. Stunning crater lake at sunrise though! 🌊 Tumpak Sewu – 9/10 Jaw-dropping. Like a real-life fantasy. The hike down is adventurous and wet - not for toddlers - but for older kids? Epic waterfall magic. 🌳 De Djawatan Forest – 8/10 A little piece of Middle-earth in Java. Mossy trees, mystical vibes, and a great spot to slow down and let the kids roam. 🌾 Teras Semeru – 8/10 Rice fields with volcano views - yes, please! Peaceful, scenic, and a great place for a drone shot. 💦 Coban Sriti Waterfall – 6/10 Dramatic twin falls in a hidden canyon. Beautiful but hard to reach, especially with kids in tow. One for the adventure-loving families. Better only stick to the Panorama Viewpoint! 🌄 Seruni Viewpoint – 10/10 Hands down the best sunrise we’ve ever seen. Mount Bromo and Semeru in full golden glory - absolutely worth the early wake-up call. Go up beyond Seruni for no people! 📌 Planning your East Java trip with kids? Save this for real insights into what’s worth the hike, where to slow down, and how to find that volcanic magic ✨ 👇🏻Tell us your favorite East Java spot or ask us anything! #travelfamily #eastjava #javatrip #javarating #indonesia #visitindonesia #travelguide
