The hardest part of my EE career was right after graduation. Not because my apartment got robbed the same day I graduated, but because the excitement of getting the degree was over so quick once I arrived in the real world. Even if you graduate with a job lined up, the first year can be ass. If you don't have a job lined up, even ass-er. That was the case for me. I got my EE degree from Ohio State and spent the next three months going to the same coffee shop every day applying to jobs until I went home in defeat. I didn't give up...and I finally got a job! Lets gooo.... oh..The excitement ended even faster this time. I was in a cubicle from 1970 copy-pasting AutoCAD layouts for Sephora stores. 50-60 hours a week. For like a year. And even doing the most basic work, I still felt out of my depth. All the theory from school was no help when putting together panel schedules. Here's what I didn't realize back then: The first job doesn't represent what you're going to be doing for the rest of your career. The new guy gets all the stuff no one else wants to do and it's not fun. But once you actually learn the real skills: Revit, electrical design, how buildings get built... everything opens up. Better projects. More creative freedom. Way more money. I went from Sephora store copy-paste to stamping drawings for military bases and leading $100M+ projects. Do I think the first few years should have to suck like that? No. That's exactly why I built BETI, to shorten that learning curve so you're not grinding for years before the career actually gets good. ๐ DM 'Revit' to learn the skills engineering firms are hiring for right now #electrical #engineering #student

Ai will NOT replace electrical engineers โ and hereโs why โก๏ธ I have 20+ years of electrical engineering experience and 10 years teaching at the university level, I can tell you this with confidence: Electrical engineering is still deeply hands-on. Youโre in labs. At the bench. Testing, building, breaking, troubleshooting. Going back and forth between design โ test โ fix โ repeat. Real talk: If a circuit board is burning in the labโฆ AI canโt smell that yet. You need human intuition. You need trained hands. You need fundamentals, preparation, and experience. Your coursework matters. Your problem-solving skills matter. Your ability to think and troubleshoot in real time matters. So donโt let fear-based AI headlines intimidate you. Keep learning. Keep building. Keep working hard. Engineers who understand the fundamentals and can work hands-on will always be irreplaceable. Make sure you follow for more electrical engineering advice! And drop any questions you have in the comments ๐๐ป

Ever wonder what it takes to get hands-on with real electrical testing? โก๏ธ Milan doesnโt just show, he makes sure our students understand why every reading matters. Itโs about precision, safety, and knowing that even a tiny mistake can be costly. This is what learning in the โclassroomโ looks like. Want to get hands-on and experience this training for yourself? Your 1st yr in electrical has nothing to do with electrical ๐ โฆ How to work with your hands. How to move material. How parts actually get used. How crews communicate. How journeymen think ahead. Youโre learning people. Pace. Process. Thatโs why year one feels confusing. Youโre actually building the foundation. Electrical skill comes later. Habits and work ethic come first. The apprentices who understands this early start learning faster. #electrician #apprentice #tradeslife #electricianlife #constructionlife bluecollar sparklife tradesmen skilledtrades electricaltips jobsitewisdom followformore

This is for educational purposes only. Always do your own research to decide what is right for you. (1) SolidWorks Associate Certification (CSWA): One of the most recognized entry-level CAD certifications for mechanical engineers. It tests your ability to build parts, assemblies, and basic simulations in SolidWorks. If your university provides access, you can often take it for free. Itโs a great way to prove you can actually design, not just follow tutorials, and it signals to employers that youโre comfortable with industry-standard CAD tools. (2) Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate: Even in engineering, data is everywhere. This certification teaches you how to work with data using tools like Excel, SQL, and basic visualization platforms. It covers data cleaning, analysis, and interpretation, skills that apply across almost every engineering field. Itโs beginner-friendly, relatively quick to complete, and shows you can go beyond purely technical work and actually make data-driven decisions. (3) Python for Engineering / Automation (Coursera or similar): Python is becoming a core skill in modern engineering, whether itโs for simulations, data analysis, or automating repetitive tasks. These courses typically cover fundamentals like scripting, working with libraries (NumPy, Pandas), and building small automation tools. Itโs one of the highest leverage skills you can add early, especially if you want to move toward robotics, AI, or more technical roles. Personally, Iโd prioritize CAD certifications like SolidWorks first as a mechanical engineer, then build from there depending on what direction you want to go in. #engineering #college
