If it were not for this method I would have never even tried EPP! It’s so great to have options when it comes to being creative. We can do things our own way and still get a great end result! I love the creative process and finding new ways to do things. When I discovered these EPP iron on templates I knew they would be a game changer. They are water soluble so you don’t have to remove them, and for some projects they work great as a stabilizer! No hand sewing, no removing papers! This is a win win! This is a long one, but worth understanding why this is so important in English Paper Piecing. All the little techniques along the way will really up your game and take your EPP to the next level. Is fussy cutting important? Absolutely! It is critical. But let’s not forget about basting the fabric to the papers. Now, I am team glue baste, but there is nothing wrong with thread basting. I prefer glue, but thread is also a wonderful means to an end. The basting process is extremely important. If your fussy cutting is spot on and each piece is exactly the same, but you are having some issues with the precision of matching lines in the finished EPP block, it could be that your basting is the culprit. I make sure that I use one piece as a reference point t and dab tiny dots of glue on the wrong side of the fabric piece to hole an EPP paper in place. Then I grab my next piece of fabric and position the paper exactly as my sample piece. I look for reference points I can use to assure my paper pieces are in exactly the same position. Then I glue baste all the pieces except for my sample, which I leave for the last. This girl never stops. She is so artistic and never wants to slow down. I am always using my @lapappstore around her and she is dying to help me baste fabric. Today she took matters into her own hands and made herself a table. That was my cue to stop working on my project, that I was very eager to finish today, and focus on her. She learned how to baste hexies and she did great. I will save that for another video. I am very excited to share my hobby with her for as long as she is willing to entertain me. ✨ Overpacking ✨ Hello my name is Jackie Gillies and I have an overpacking problem… My main problem is not too many clothes. It’s too many hand sewing projects! I mean, I packed one small bag of clothes and 7 different EPP projects! Case in point - this is my Eden Quilt. Alllllll of my Eden Quilt. It’s a long term project - I usually bring out a couple of blocks and sew them together and then put it away for a while while I focus on other projects. But for this 9 day road trip to pick up our caravan (and in which I am still madly working in my business) - I decided to bring every single piece. I also brought my #cherishquilt, #icecreamsodaquilt, #mandolinquilt, #tulasbloomers, #tussiemussiecushion and #elderberryquilt. I’d like to remind you all that it took me over 200 hours to stitch my #hexieharvestquilt! There is no way I’m finishing six projects in 9 days 😂😂😂 Anyway… they looked so lovely going into the box that I just had to take it with me! Are you a chronic overpacked like me?
