It happens during the spring and autumn equinoxes. The spring equinox takes place this Friday, March 20! . This amazing spectacle is commonly known here as Chicagohenge, and it brings out all the photographers looking to capture the perfect picture! . You can catch it from any east-west street corridor between Kinzie and Madison! One of the best spots to watch it though is at the interesection of Washington Street and Michigan Ave along Millennium Park! . The best time to see Chicagohenge is the 10 minutes leading up to sunset. Sunset times this week are: ➖ Friday, March 20 at 7:02 p.m. ➖ Saturday, March 21 at 7:03 p.m. ➖ Sunday, March 22 at 7:05 p.m. . While the length of time exposed to sunlight is pretty clear from the video, the reason the intensity changes may not be: Near the edges of Earth as observed from the Sun, more surface area is being presented to a given sunbeam than it is near the middle. In other words light near the edge is diluted over a wide area. Equinoxes and solstices have been called the 4 gates or portals of the year. The concept of the gate comes from these magical moments when the Earth frequency merges with the celestial frequency✨️ Every year we have two solstices: one in June and one in December.
