A service dog is task trained while an ESA is not but that doesn’t mean that their obedience and manners should be any different. Most people don’t believe in training their dog but what they fail to understand is the bond and relationship that you build with your dog in the process. I truly believe that every dog deserves some level of obedience in order to meet their needs. When you bring structure and boundaries to your dog you’re showing up for your dog and your ability to communicate with them will trump all frustration! #foryou #viralvideo #dogsofinstagram #rescue #adorable

Why is faking an assistance dog a problem? Soooo over the weekend we were in our local non-pet friendly shopping centre and doing fine until…I hear barking. Initially I thought it was sabbath -which would be very unusual, but then saw a dog on a flexi lead labelled as a ‘service dog’ barking and just doing whatever it pleased. So why is this a problem? 🐶 Sabbath recovered amazingly however she was distracted then shortly after alerted. My HR was already 130+ by the time she alerted which is late for her. She could have easily missed this alert completely because of the distraction caused by the other dog. Missed alerts for someone like me can lead to fainting episodes and when it just “happens” it usually also equals concussions or other traumas that happens when you drop from no where. It can be dangerous and completely avoidable. 🐶 Untrained dogs cause a big risk to working assistance dogs. Unfortunately the people that do this usually have unruly and poorly trained dogs anyway. And multiple teams have been attacked in places that should be safe for them. Attacks can quite easily cause a dog to wash which is a massive strain on the handler especially if you have to start again from scratch over something that could have been prevented. 🐶 Poorly behaved dogs that are labelled as Assistance dogs can give the label of assistance dog a bad reputation. Dogs do make mistakes but bad behaviour is consistent poor behaviour that shouldn’t happen in a dog that is doing PA. It causes more access issues for real AD handlers in particular owner trained teams. Under U.K. law ESA’s are not recognised. I 100% believe they have a place but if you need to have the step up to having an Assistance dog go down the legal and right route. This ensures no one is put at risk or causing problems that need not occur. #assistancedogintraining #assistancedoguk #assistancedogsofinstagram #fakeservicedog #fakeassistancedog #distractingservicedogs #esadog #servicedogtraining #servicedogsofinstagram #servicedogintrainingpuppy #multipurposeservicedog #medicalalertdogintraining #medicalalertdogintraining #allthatwork #stopfakingservicedogs #servicedoglife #servicedoghandler

haven’t been to the dentist in 7 years because of anxiety. It’s something I’ve been really embarrassed about, but anxiety can make even small things feel impossible. My new dentist was so understanding and told me I could bring Brady with me for support. Brady is a well-trained ESA dog who has been signed off by a doctor, and I would never bring him somewhere without approval. It was really cool to see a dentist willing to create space for people who genuinely struggle so anxiety doesn’t prevent them from getting proper dental care. Big step for me today... and Brady did an excellent job as emotional support. 🥹 @gulchdentalstudio #esadog #dentalanxiety #dentistappointment #anxietyrelief

We all know what this means 🙃 Before you ask: 💜 He is MY emotional support animal. 💜 He is NOT a service dog nor do I pretend he is. 💜 ESAs are VERY different from service dogs. 💜 Our office is dog friendly and he is office dog. 💜 We only go to dog friendly places with our dogs. 💜 We do work on tasks for my anxiety and OCD but he is not a service dog. #dogsdoingthings #emotionalhealth #emotionalsupportdog #emotionalsupportanimal #esa #notaservicedog #officedogs #officedogsofinstagram #officedog #office
