1 de julio de 2012. Kiev. La final de la UEFA Euro 2012 Final no fue solo un partido… fue la confirmación de una era. La Spain national football team llegaba con una presión histórica: podía convertirse en la primera selección en ganar Eurocopa, Mundial y Eurocopa consecutivamente. Y no solo cumplió… lo hizo con autoridad.  Desde el inicio, el equipo de Vicente del Bosque impuso su ritmo. Posesión, control y una sensación constante de superioridad. El 1-0 lo firmó David Silva de cabeza. El 2-0 llegó antes del descanso con una carrera de Jordi Alba.  Italia, que había competido durante el torneo, empezó a descomponerse. En la segunda parte, el partido cambió de dimensión. Fernando Torres amplió la ventaja y asistió a Juan Mata para el 4-0 final, la mayor goleada en una final de la Eurocopa.  Pero más allá del resultado, el partido dejó una sensación clara. No fue solo una victoria. Fue una exhibición. Andrés Iniesta lo resumió sin rodeos: “hicimos el partido perfecto”.
