WHY IS MY BATTING PRACTICE NOT TRANSLATING TO MY IN-GAME PERFORMANCE🤔 Demonstrating today is 28 grad OF from Don Bosco HS in New Jersey, @theevolutionevents athlete and MY GUYY🤩 @ty_madden7 (aka “JOSH HAMILTON”🎬). There’s a ton of variables as to why my practice isn’t quantifiable to my in game performance, but here’s one thats pretty common in amateur hitters☝🏽 Chasing exit velocity in a cage setting. Although a hitter needs to produce a certain amount of force in order to get a hit, based on the speed of the game at any level, once that exit velocity is established I don’t keep having my hitters chase it during practice. Every coach is different, for me personally I generally value barrel accuracy over exit velocity. I’m not saying I don’t want my hitters to improve or raise their exit velocity as they develop, I’m saying if my hitter squares up a ball in a game, whether it was 92.3mph or 94.5 mph, who really cares lol🤷🏻‍♂️ I prefer working on overall body awareness, adjustability, strike zone discipline, and cognitive swing decisions during practice, because I believe those have much more impact on in game performance☝🏽 The other issue with spending too much time in a perfect climate controlled cage setting working on mechanics and exit velocity… is it’s impossible to simulate the natural amount of adrenaline we release in a real game once theres umpires and teammates and fans yelling in a tie game in the bottom of the last inning😤 If I can identify my optimal level of effort in practice and its 70-80%, that automatically turns up in a clutch game situation to maybe 90-95%. The pain, the movement, the first 💩… my #csection recovery timeline for the first 10 days post operation ❤️‍🩹 First 24 hours: - On ALL the pain meds. Took about 7 hours from op to feel my legs again - About 12 hours after op I was told if I wanted to go home the next day I’d have to get up and walk to the bathroom 😵‍💫 which I managed to with a lot of help from midwife. Managed to pee 💪 - Felt very sore, very fragile and like I’d never feel normal again Day 1 - Still on lots of pain meds which numbed a lot of the pain and emotions around it - Got up with help from my husband and walked solo (with him right behind) to the toilet! Felt like a huge triumph. - Discharged from hospital about 28 hours after op. Told to walk out myself rather than get a wheel chair - Fainted about 5meters from the exit 😵‍💫 was too much too soon (plus took a very strong pain killer right before). Went back to the ward for observations, but ultimately just wanted to go home and sleep - so discharged myself - Home. In bed. Didn’t move Day 2 - Stayed in bed - Topping up pain meds - 💩 IYKYN 💪 - Feel VERY SORE and in lots of pain Day 3-5 - Stayed in bed - Getting a lot more movement. Only walking to bathroom and back (like 1meter) but able to now do it alone - Milk came in - Maximum pain meds every 3/4 hours Day 6 - Able to change my first nappy 🥰 - Took off my scar bandage in the shower with help - Looked at the scar for the first time - Pain really getting better, lowered med dosage Day 7 - Left my bedroom and walked down the stairs - Sat in the garden ❤️ - Reduced pain meds to only once a day if needed Day 10 - Finished Heparin injections (hated them so much) - Went out for a coffee (husband drove) with baby - Felt absolutely exhausted after and spent rest of day in bed Was that helpful?
