Here’s what I never skip ↓ 1. Checking what’s working before I post. Every morning before I post, I check my trial reels from yesterday. Which ones are taking off? What hook did I use? What audio? If something’s working, I repurpose that exact formula with different b-roll. I’m not guessing. I’m following the data. 2. Making my captions long. This might sound counterintuitive, but long captions increase watch time. While people are reading, the reel loops in the background. More loops means better performance. Instagram rewards watch time with reach. 3. Using trending audio that’s actually still trending. I don’t just grab any trending audio. I tap into it, check the comments, and make sure people are still finding reels with that audio in the last few days. If the comments are recent, the audio is still working. 4. Posting 5-7 trial reels daily. Not 1. Not 3. Five to seven. Because trial reels are a testing ground. The more I post, the more the algorithm learns what resonates. Some get 200 views. Some get 10k. But I can’t know what works unless I test consistently. 5. Treating it like a sprint with a deadline. I set a clear goal: 400 to 5,000 followers by end of February. That deadline creates urgency. My ADHD brain needs that pressure to stay engaged. Without it, “I’ll post later” becomes never posting at all. Trial reels aren’t magic. They’re strategy. And when you treat them strategically, they work. I went from 400 to 700 followers in 10 days using this exact approach. Not because I got lucky. Because I showed up consistently and paid attention to what was working.
