What is a Virtual Machine? A virtual machine (VM) lets you run multiple operating systems on one computer — safely, isolated, and efficiently. This is how homelabs, servers, cloud providers, and IT pros test software, host services, and break things without breaking everything 😅 If you’re learning IT, networking, or self-hosting, this is a must-know concept. #informationtechnology #homelab

Virtio makes virtual machines fast by removing unnecessary hardware emulation. With paravirtualized drivers and virtqueues, the guest OS communicates directly with the hypervisor for networking, storage, and memory operations. Less emulation. More performance. #linux #software #computerscience #programming #code

Running a server past its support date is like leaving your back door wide open with a “free stuff inside” sign. Windows Server 2016 is heading to end-of-life, and the risks only get scarier from there. We break down what really happens when you cling to aging servers—and why this is the perfect excuse to move your infrastructure to the cloud for better security, performance, and sleep at night. What is the difference between a server and a virtual machine 🤯 Guys! A server is a physical machine designed to provide resources, services, or data to other computers over a network. It has its own CPU, memory, storage, and network hardware running directly on the metal. A virtual machine, on the other hand, is a software-based computer that runs on top of a physical server using a hypervisor. The hypervisor divides the physical server’s resources into multiple isolated virtual environments. Each virtual machine behaves like an independent computer with its own operating system. Multiple VMs can run on a single physical server at the same time. This makes resource usage more efficient and flexible. Servers are the hardware foundation, while virtual machines are logical instances built on top of them. In cloud environments, you usually interact with virtual machines, not physical servers. And that’s literally it 😁 Follow for more 🤝 #softwareengineering #computerscience

deu.u_ Some application aren’t made for every operating system. I have a jailbroken ps3 and jailbroken Idevices and a bunch of programs don’t support Linux. Also this computer is so old I can’t specific things like virtualization. So I can’t sandbox any app and run it efficiently as newer pc’s. So sadly that made me loose all interest in even installing Linux. Some day tho. #networking #server #pc #windows #plex

WMI in Linux is how the kernel talks to vendor firmware for laptop-specific features. From hotkeys and backlight control to fan curves and BIOS toggles, the WMI subsystem bridges open-source drivers with ACPI-defined firmware methods. Different vendors. Different implementations. One kernel framework. #linux #software #computerscience #programming #code
