Our body holds the keys to our desires. All that you long for, it’s felt, deep inside. Movement opens the doors to possibility, to expansion and spaciousness within. Movement creates a path for source energy to move freely through our vessels and express truthfully, alchemising story or shadow. Pure divine wisdom carried by the waves of unfiltered movement. Movement that makes no logical sense because it’s coming from the body, not the mind. Releasing control or even just noticing where we may be controlling, suppressing, hiding. Sovereign desire doesn’t evolve from lack, shadow, story, performance or who we think we should be. It is desire that is true to our unique essence, at our core, beneath layers of conditioning and is deeply felt in the body. Sovereign desire is somatic. It feels grounded, clear and like a full body “yes this is meant for me” or “no, that doesn’t feel aligned”. The desire feels like a deep longing. It may awaken within our sense of safety, when our nervous system is at ease, healthy, resourced. Or, it may cry through our pain and disconnect. It’s not a want, need, or something that we must find or we feel incomplete, it is a calling home... We meet the need that supports us to feel and fulfil the desire, alchemising all that stands in the way of honouring the desire, honouring truth. It carries an energetic ease, not a grasp or contraction to force into reality. It is a knowing of what is possible for us and trusting in where we are being called. Sovereign desire doesn’t go away if we ignore it. It will continue to tug at us until we listen. In my most stickiest moments, this is where I return to, self devotion, self honouring, self holding. Feeding my way through all the parts to come home to myself, to love, to the divine. No one is going to save us from the uncomfortable parts of ourselves…it is us who must meet these parts with love and curiosity. They are leading us toward our truth, our fear to go there is what carries us further away. Our fear, force or gripping are all apart of the medicine…all of it asking to be met with curiosity and love. Descending to ascend, and on it continues.

I was chatting with a client after my somatic movement & release class last night about the fear that can arise when we are given the space to move our bodies freely. We live in a world defined by structure, rules & containment and our bodies are no different. Our bodies have been determined by metrics, by how well they perform. The exercises we do are defined by a set of sequences or steps that must be followed to obtain a certain outcome. Somatics asks the opposite of this… What feels good? What do you need? What is your body trying to say? The structure disappears and instead you are left with space to truly, deeply listen. But it is in this space that fear can arise…. It’s unfamiliar and it can feel overwhelming. Like anything, stepping out of our comfort zone is incredibly challenging. This is why Somatics is intuitive, self led and slooooooowwwww (or fast if that’s what you need). It’s a process of cultivating safety through self awareness and expression. Not forcing ourselves into excessive releases but rather discovering what OUR individual body needs through curiosity. To rewild ourselves asks us to step out of the internal comfort of structure and into the expansive unknown of limitless possibility. It’s within this inquisitive, curious space that true connection can develop. True attunement to our own beautiful souls can be built. This is why I love embodied movement, this is why I love living life somatically… you give yourself the space to cultivate fluidity and freedom, not only within your body but within your life. This is how we REWILD. This is authentic living.

One of my favorite exercises ✨ playing with associations. Because here’s what’s fascinating… We think we know how we’ll respond. We say, “If I felt confident, I would move like this.” “If I felt powerful, I would stand like that.” But then we let the body speak and it tells a completely different story. Certain states of being sound one way in the mind… and feel entirely different in the body. The mind is clever. It protects. It edits. It creates a version that feels safe. And the body? The body reveals the real associations we’re carrying the subtle tensions, the unexpected softness, the hesitation, the strength. And that’s where the therapeutic magic lives. Have you ever noticed how we talk about “reaching” for new heights, and “rising” to the occasion, and “moving up” in the world, or “going nowhere”?.. We naturally use embodied language to describe major life experiences, and there is a reason for it. “Movement is life”, said Jules Verne. In many *essential* ways, we relate to ourselves and the world through movement. Movement was among our first embodied experiences - that is how we explored and made sense of our environment when we were little, how we formed our sense of self in it: we reached, rolled, crawled, swayed, we’d come close, we’d pull away. Movement helped us to map safety, boundaries, and connection. It was one of our very first languages that quite literally shaped our embodied self. I invite you to ask yourself: - What repeating movement patterns are present in your life today? - What range of physical movement do you allow yourself to consciously explore? Do you ever explore intuitive movement? - When was the last time you danced? ✨ Dance has been a recurring theme among my 1:1 clients lately and for good reason! Dance can help us tap into a state of flow, connection, and inner alignment. Finally, if I had to recommend one somatic tool without knowing anything about you, I’d say - intentional, intuitive movement. When you engage in intuitive movement - following the body and not the mind - you allow your energy to flow, express and shift within us, in ways that can feel immensely meaningful - in ways that are truly yours.
