What we see on a map is not always an exact representation of reality. Most world maps use the Mercator projection, which preserves direction for navigation but distorts size and distance especially as we move away from the equator. In this image, two distances are compared one across Africa and one across Russia. Although one appears shorter on the map, it is actually longer in reality, showing how visual perception can differ from true measurements on Earth. #geography #earth #facts #nature #knowledge

Scientists placed a piece of transparent glass inside an aquarium. On the left was a fierce pike, and on the right several smaller fish were swimming around. When the hungry pike saw the smaller fish, it rushed forward to attack. Bang! It hit the glass and bounced back. The pike couldn’t believe it and kept attacking again and again, but every attempt was useless. The repeated collisions tore off its scales and injured its head. Finally, the pike became frightened and retreated to a corner, trembling. Then the scientists quietly removed the glass, and the smaller fish swam freely everywhere, even touching the pike’s mouth. But the pike never opened its mouth to eat them. Even though it was hungry, it refused to attack. In its mind, the smaller fish had disappeared, and only the invisible wall remained. After a few days, the pike died of starvation, surrounded by food. This is known as the pike effect or pike syndrome. #curiosities #facts #curiousfacts

Explanation 👇 It is a common misconception that the Sun is “burning” like a campfire or a candle. On Earth, fire is a chemical reaction called combustion, which requires oxygen. In space, however, the Sun uses a completely different process that doesn’t need oxygen at all. The Sun is powered by nuclear fusion, not chemical combustion. In combustion, atoms rearrange themselves to form new molecules (like wood and oxygen turning into ash and smoke). In fusion, the centers of the atoms (nuclei) actually smash together to create entirely new elements. Instead of oxygen, the Sun uses its own massive gravity as “fuel” to start the reaction: • Extreme Pressure: The Sun is so massive that its gravity crushes its core with incredible force. • Extreme Heat: This pressure creates temperatures of about 15 million°C. • The Reaction: At these temperatures, hydrogen atoms move so fast that they overcome their natural urge to repel each other. They smash together and fuse to become helium. Mass Turning into Energy :- When those hydrogen atoms fuse into helium, the new helium atom actually weighs slightly less than the hydrogen atoms that made it. That “missing” mass isn’t gone; it is converted into a massive amount of energy (heat and light) according to Einstein’s famous equation #physics #sun #solarsystem #astrophysics #astrology #facts #spacefacts

Crude oil Refining Process 😀 . #crudeoil #shorts #viralreels #facts #knowledge . . Crude oil cannot be used directly, so it is refined in oil refineries. First, crude oil is taken out from deep underground using oil wells. After that, it is transported to refineries through pipelines or ships. In the refinery, the first step is distillation, where crude oil is heated at very high temperature. When the oil becomes hot, different parts of it turn into vapor and start rising. Inside a tall distillation tower, the temperature is different at different levels. Because of this, substances separate according to their boiling points. At the top, light gases like LPG are collected. Below that, petrol and naphtha are obtained. After that, kerosene and diesel are separated. At the bottom, heavy oil and bitumen remain. After distillation, these fuels go through more chemical processes to become cleaner and better. One important process is cracking, where large molecules are broken into smaller ones. This process increases the amount of petrol and diesel. After refining, these fuels are used in cars, airplanes, ships, and factories. This is how crude oil is refined and converted into useful fuels and products.

Each dried flower head holds up to 2,000 seeds arranged in a Fibonacci double spiral - nature's most efficient packing method. Every tiny floret in the center is a separate flower that can be pollinated into a seed. One hectare of sunflowers yields ~600-800 liters of oil. Video author unknown.
