Very surprisingly the N016 Glider in the All Time Top List for the shotput is Mohamed Daoud Tolo, from Saudi Arabia, a very interesting athlete that performed his 21.80m PR on June 21st of 2024 ! This literally makes him the "last glider" ,not to mention he is proof enough that this technique can still produce big throws ! From his PR throw as well as from other throws of him from competitions ,we can see he is a very explosive and fast athlete through the ring ! He is using the drop and kick technique that can add a lot of momentum to the glide and quite a lot of lift when the block is timed correctly into a full reverse.The whole technical execution of his throw is very fast and accurate and it can obviously generate incredible power ! Right now ,after so many successful rotational throwers that can put the biomechanical data gathered for the last 50+ years into good use ,taking full advantage of the new limits of this technique,it is very hard to understand whether there are less gliders nowadays because of the spin's effectiveness or because nobody (coach or athlete) seriously tries the glide anymore, so it's a kind of "the chicken or the egg" matter. Athletes such as Mohamed Daoud Tolo can show that if done right, it could still send the shot pretty far ! Fadi Daoud A Jordanian artist born in Fuheis in 1984, he studied Fine Arts at the Jordan University and received his Masters from the Al Balqa University with a focus on Islamic Art. Daoud’s art is linear in style; he allows his brush stroke to flow and manipulates his brush strokes freely allowing the line to turn itself into a final painting.
