DIML commuting into NYC from Connecticut. We hopped on the train because Thomas had a work meeting at The Lotte Palace so I thought it was the perfect excuse to schedule an eyebrow wax and return my new bag that broke. I’ve been going to the same eyebrow woman for 10+ years and haven’t found anyone better locally so I try and see her 4x a year whenever I’m in the city. After that, I headed to Fendi to exchange my bag - they were so nice. Then we were craving our fave restaurant back in CT so we ran to the train and made it home in an hour. Pizza, prep schools, coastal towns, fall foliage, quiet wealth…explain yourself • New Haven apizza…no it’s not burnt, and no it’s not spelled wrong • You will hear “Stars Hollow was actually based on my hometown” on repeat • The Merritt Parkway is either the most scenic drive of your life or the reason you’re late • Town loyalty matters more than state pride • Mystic is either a charming coastal gem or a tourist nightmare depending on the month • Private school kids and public school kids coexist but absolutely clock each other instantly • Connecticut is New England until someone from New York is in the room • UConn is either the heart of the state or completely irrelevant depending on where you grew up • Connecticut kids move to the city for character development.
