Our kids ask all the time when the next Show & Tell Dinner is—and honestly, we look forward to them just as much as they do. We usually do one about once a month, and it’s become such a fun family tradition. Sometimes the kids bring artwork, Lego creations, or something they cooked. Other times they share about a skill they’re working on. Some things—like skiing or tennis—are harder to bring to the table, but they can tell us about it or show a video. It’s simple, but it’s one of our favorite ways to celebrate what everyone is learning and creating. #familytradition #family #kids #traditions

When I was younger, we had “the special plate“ it was a hand painted rainbow plate that would show up sometimes at family dinner, and the person that was chosen to use it received compliments during dinner from the rest of the family. I have adopted this tradition with my own kids, and we call it the Sunshine plate and during dinner, the person using the plate is flooded with compliments and reasons why we love them. I’ve noticed sometimes it is necessary for the kiddo that had a harder day to be reminded of how special they are. Such a simple tradition that I know, shaped a big part of my childhood and my relationship with my siblings, and I hope to do the same for my kids.🩷 #coolmomsclub #siblingrelationship #closekids #momhacks #familytraditions

Hahaha okay maybe my parents aren’t technically perfect and neither are me and my brothers but I’m literally obsessed with my family and my parents have gotten compliments my whole life for how they raised us. Here’s just a handful of things they implemented in our family’s culture that I want to encourage in my own family. 1- Eating dinner at the table as a family- this was a non negotiable. I genuinely know people really ate in front of the tv I thought that was just a thing in the movies. Oh! And we had to help clear the table and ask to be excused. 2- Music on at all times- before school, after school and always at dinner, we never ate without a little ambience. Honestly this was just such a vibe that my mom still does and creates such a warm home. 3- No prepackaged snacks- not even because my parents were super duper healthy at the time (now they’re definitely more health conscious), but it costs a lot more to buy those sorts of snacks so my mom would buy a family size or in bulk and have us use ziplocks. They were raising 4 boys and a little girl on one income and I have the utmost respect for that. 4- Have the kids help in the kitchen- my brothers mostly helped clean the kitchen (although they all turned out to be incredddible chefs) but I really loved cooking and baking from a young age. I was always with my parents in the kitchen cracking eggs, stirring sauces, and helping clean the dishes from as early as I can remember 5- Have a candy drawer- this was SO normal to me and I remember my friends saying how awesome it was but I can’t remember a time without it. Also my dad is a dentist so it always shocked people that he loves to indulge in some Häagen-Dazs and Lindt chocolates. But I feel like it really helped me establish a good relationship with sweets and because of that I have never struggled with self control around sugar. There are so many things I think my parents did wonderfully and I could go on and on.
