Spent a little too much time fauning around this Friday at London Fashion Week… so today it’s slow morning and soft recovery before I do it again! A week ago when I set eyes on this video my friend from the Ecstatic Breathwork and Body Movement Class took of me, I decided against posting it. When I looked at the video that night I perceived an aggressive energy about my dance, that made me feel vulnerable to share with my followers here on this account, as if I was letting the vulnerable parts of me be seen that were ripe for external criticism! Talk about a trauma reaction of hiding/#fauning 🥲 At the parking lot when I left the hot yoga studio someone saw me struggle to leave my spot as cars had been parked on the way. They offered help to direct me to get out, and I said I was fine doing it on my own and thanked them politely. On my way driving home I was overthinking (as an ERP therapist I should know better, but I also don't claim to be perfect) if I had appeared too rejecting/distant in that interaction, which might have played a role in projecting this same fear of being aggressive (related to being asocial etc) when I viewed this video later that evening and felt kind of intimidated by how vulnerable I can let myself be dancing so vigorously among many other class attendants! (Never mind that the name of the class is Ecstatic Breathwork and Dance) I felt downright fear at the prospect of posting this moment. Fast forward 8 days later - I come across this video and I have none of the same reaction I had on that night! I think it is because when I do this time, I'm peacefully sitting in my couch after a morning of reading and there have been no triggers to emotionally dysregulate me! #Projection is really a Big thing guys! Apparently we don't just project what we feel inside on others and think they have something to do with how we feel. Turns out we can do it on images and videos of ourselves from only an hour ago 🤯
