Kıbrıs Türk halkının ilk kez devlet yapısı deneyimi elde ettiği Kıbrıs Türk Federe Devleti, 13 Şubat 1975’te ilan edilmişti. KTFD Meclisi ise 15 Kasım 1983’te oy birliğiyle aldığı kararla Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nin kurulduğunu duyurmuş, bu kararla birlikte KTFD dönemi sona ermişti.
