#Felt Crown Making Tutorial

How to make a Felt Crown: 👑🪡 Step 1: Make a rough plan of what you want your crown to look like. (This isn’t a necessary step but I find it makes things easier later on). Step 2: Cut out two crown shapes from felt. One A4 piece of felt folded in half is the perfect size. (I just drew my own template, but you can find them online). Step 3: Start cutting out each element of your crown. Then test the layout of everything on your crown and adjust if needed. Step 4: Sew details on elements, then sew to one layer of the crown base (sometimes I find it easier to glue them in place beforehand to ensure they’re where you want them). Step 5: Sparkle time! This part is optional but I think it’s what truly brings the crown together. Hand sew sequins in any spare spaces (I recommend spacing them out beforehand). Step 6: Pin the second base crown layer to the back, and blanket stitch the top and bottom, leaving the sides open. (I like to use a contrasting colour around the edge, I find it really pops). Step 7: Measure how much elastic you’ll need for the crown to fit, then sew to the openings at the side. Step 8: Finally, I like to add a little more sparkle with tiny rhinestones scattered about. Now you’ve got yourself a gorgeous felt crown, perfect for Birthdays, Christmas, or any other occasion! #feltcrafts #craftideas

This birthday crown I finished in July was such a fun project. Based on the inspo pics I knew I would have to push myself creatively. Fun facts about this crown: 1. I handmade the pom poms - the centre one made of yarn and the smaller outer ones made of wool roving. Took far too long but when you have a vision and not the correct supplies you have to do what it takes 😂 2. You can turn the number circle sideways and place two numbers on it for double digits. This was tricky to accomplish but I knew I wanted it to have the option to last past the age of 9. She turns 4 on Saturday 👑 will I finish in time??? Honestly I’m not sure but I’m going to give it my all 🤞🏻 I wasn’t sure if I was going to even attempt this… time kind of got away from me this week. Then after messaging with so many of you, I realized that this project is actually so special. I want to make this crown so that she can wear it for years to come on her birthday. And I have plans to make one for all of my kids so they can each have their own personalized birthday crown. How fun would that be to look back on their memories as a child and remember the special birthday crown their mom made for them? 🥹

I finished it 🥹 I decided this last week I was going I make Daisy a birthday crown and to be honest I didn’t think I’d have time to finish. But I did it 🙌🏻 5:30 pm on her actual birthday, just in time for cake 🎂 my boys asked me to make one for their birthdays and I think I’ll make that a goal this year 👑 how special will it be to pull this out every year for their birthday? I think it’s a fun tradition 🥰 Btw I told her this isn’t a crown for playing, it’s a photo prop 😂

HOW TO MAKE A FELT BIRTHDAY CROWN 👑 I bought @heyjenbrannen’s birthday crown kit to get all of my designs and templates, and it was so helpful! I asked my daughter what her favorite things were and she said mermaids and unicorns, so that’s exactly what I did! 🧜‍♀️🦄 I honestly wish I’d started making these sooner, because it feels so special and personal and I wish I had one for every year.
