Meet my newest jungle member — the Boston fern 💚 Not exactly the easiest plant to care for, but so worth it for that jungle vibe. Be honest — do ferns survive in your care? 😅🌿

Your Ultimate Boston Fern Care guide! 🌿 These are the 4 most important things for keeping your Boston Ferns looking just as beautiful as the day you bought them at your local greenhouse… 🌿Correct Exposure. One of the biggest mistakes made with Boston Fern Care is placing them in full, direct sunlight. Boston Ferns thrive in partial shade and flourish when given bright, indirect light. If you are looking for a fern that can tolerate sun, grab a Kimbery Queen Fern instead! 🌿Consistent Watering - Boston Ferns are often very rootbound. This means there is less soil to hold onto moisture and more roots to suck up any moisture that is there more quickly than many other plants. Make sure to water consistently and often. On hot, humid or windy days, you may need to water your ferns both in the morning and afternoon. When you do water, make sure to soak them thoroughly. 🌿Fertilizing - Many Boston Ferns go from being regularly fertilized in grower greenhouses to suddenly receiving no additional nutrients once they reach their forever homes. It’s important to keep these good nutrients coming. Make sure to fertilize regularly during the growing season by using a slow-release or liquid houseplant fertilizer according to label instructions. 🌿Pruning and Cleaning - If you notice any dead fronds or foliage, make sure to remove them to allow your Boston Fern to focus its energy on promoting new and healthy growth. That’s it! They are really rather easy. You’ve got this. 😉 _____ #PrairieGardens #ChampaignIL #ChampaignUrbana Boston Ferns / Plant Tips / Boston Fern Care / Gardener / Gardening / Home and Garden / Greenhouse / Garden Center / Plant Expertise / Home And Garden / Plant Shop / Nursery / Ferns / Hanging Baskets / Garden Reels / Plant Reels

🙄 What should I do with a fern that has grown too large? #TigerFern #플랜테리어 #planterior #greentherapy #minivlog #グリーンのある暮らし #植物のある暮らし #레어로우스툴 #rareraw

Plant care course. EPISODE ONE. Featuring the big, bad + beautiful Boston Fern. 🌿 This frondy friend is one of our best sellers but can also be a bit trickier to look after. SO listen up: 1. They like steamy dreamy rooms so try putting your Boston Fern in a bathroom. 🛁 2. If you don’t have enough space, or your bathroom is a little dark, you can try elsewhere BUT be sure to mist them regularly. 💦 3. Keep their soil moist! This means watering little + often to ensure the soil doesn’t dry out. Beware of overwatering as super sogginess will lead to root rot. 💧 4. They’re pretty tolerant of a range of light conditions so they’ll be happy in areas of light shade to bright indirect light. ⛅️ 5. Prune dying fronds. This means you need to snip, snip, snip away any browning/dying leaves to help conserve energy for new growth. 🌱 🐶 pet-friendly 🌀 air-purifying 🏆 best seller 🎁 top gift Tap to shop.

We’ve had these Twin Boston Ferns 🌿🌿in the shop for the last four years. Initially we would move one of them around the shop, but the last two years, they both sit on either corner of the cabinet behind the checkout counter. No matter what we do, one plant is always healthier than the other. Our care routine is very consistent: 🌿Shake & prune - remove dead leaves once a week 🌿water 1 litre per plant every Sunday 🌿feed monthly in the spring with a diluted fish or kelp based fertilizer 🌿bright indirect light from windows at the front of the shop I only realized this week that we had stopped our 🌿daily rainwater misting🌧️🚫 Ambient humidity in the winter months is 35-40%. Misting only provides humidity for a few minutes, but it is the only variable that we changed…so we are going back to misting💦💦🪴🪴 *A humidifier is always the best way to add humidity. The secret to big, beautiful ferns? I’m sharing my tips below! 🪴Comment FERN and I’ll send you the link to my favorite fern care necessities! Here are a few of the questions I was asked over and over when I shared a (viral) video of me watering my ferns: •How do you take your ferns down so easily? •What’s the powder you are adding to your watering can? •How are your ferns so big? Here are a few of my fern care tips! •Ferns need a lot of water throughout the growing season and most of the time your ferns are root bound in their growing pot when you buy them from the nursery or box store. The best thing you can do for your fern is to repot in at least a 12 inch self watering hanging basket. This will give them more room to grow and the self watering planter will help keep water from just running out of the bottom…keeping moisture in the pot! It also makes it so much easier to water. I use @miraclegro moisture control potting mix and @osmocotegarden slow release fertilizer when repotting! •To make it easier to take my ferns down when needed, we added eye screws where I wanted to hang them and added a piece of chain link to the eye screw. I just picked a length that was easy for me to reach. I hang the ferns on the chain link and it makes it much easier to take them up and down. But, with the self watering basket you don’t need to take them down near as much! •For green, lush, beautiful ferns all season long…feed them one tablespoon of Epsom salt per one gallon of water every 2 weeks! Your ferns will love you for it!!! Also if you’re growing Boston ferns…be sure to hang your ferns in part shade/shade for best results! Boston Ferns do not do well in full sun. For full sun, choose Kimberly Ferns! Have any other questions or tips to add, let me know below! Don’t forgot to comment FERN and I’ll send you the link to my favorite fern necessities❤️ #edwardsfarmstead #gardening #gardeningtips #ferns #farmhouseporch #inhergarden #porchplants #shadeplants

The gorgeous Maidenhair Fern. These stunning ferns have fronds barely thicker than hair, hence the name. To care for these, place in medium-bright light and keep the soil evenly moist. Mist or place on a pebble tray for best results. 🍃 #adiantum #adiantumraddianum #maidenhairfern #plantshop #growurban #edinburgh #plantsmakepeoplehappy
