This is me doing it fkn scared (plane took off and immediately dropped 😵‍💫🫥)!!! Unglamorous and real fear BUT choosing to do it anyway. I love traveling and I’ve had a lifelong fear of flying + all the social media clips of airplane disasters. Crazy how the more I fly, it doesn’t get better. Turbulence shakes more than the plane—it feels like it shakes my soul! It’s not fun or easy when this happens and I’m usually terrified at some point during any flight. ⠀ BUT there’s too much life to live and I’m not willing to miss it. I refuse to let fear control my life. So—I get on the plane. I get the therapy I need and I use the tools to help me (my favorite songs, noise canceling headphones on max volume + 🍸) It is what it is. Being empowered doesn’t mean you’re never scared. Kudos to my husband for facing his fear of commercial flying after 18 years of knowing him. You would think being a former Airborne Combat Engineer in the Army that he would be okay with flying, but he isn't. To him, there is something much different about having a parachute and jumping out of a plane and in trusting a stranger on a commercial flight to keep you safe. I am proud of him for facing his fear so our family could go on an amazing vacation without having to drive a super long distance to get somewhere. I also hope this encourages some of you who may also be afraid of flying to consider facing your fear, too. Today’s flight trying to climb out of Denver was a lil bumpy. ✈️ I was so glad @tomwisniewski wasn’t on this on cause even I was getting nervous. Both the take off and landings were a more wild ride than usual. But I made it! Now it’s snowing here in Bremerton. #turbulance #flight
