✈️ Got bumped from your flight? You might get up to $2,150 in cash 💵 ⚫️ Within 1 hr delay: No payout ⚫️ 1-2 hrs late (domestic) = 200% of one-way fare (max $1,075) ⚫️ 2+ hrs late = 400% of one-way fare (max $2,150) 👉🏼You keep your ticket + can request a refund • Airlines must also refund paid extras you didn’t get. 🚨Know your rights — don’t leave money on the table! 📱Go to the DOTs site for all the specifics: https://www.transportation.gov/ airconsumer/fly-rights #Overbooking #bumpedfromflight #flighthacks

⏰ Do YOU know rights you have for a flight delay? ⏰ Let’s put my 3 hour delay to the test! 💾 Save this for the future to remind you what rights you have! And comment GUIDE and I’ll send you a write up of all the details to your inbox 📥 ⚠️ WHAT FLIGHTS ARE COVERED BY UK LAW ⚠️ The rights I’m gonna chat about here are only relevant to flights that are: 🛫 departing from an airport in the UK on any airline 🛬 arriving at an airport in the UK on an EU or UK airline 🛬arriving at an airport in the EU on a UK airline ⚠️ HOW LONG DOES MY FLIGHT NEED TO BE DELAYED FOR TO GET CARE & ASSISTANCE? ⚠️ For your care & assistance rights to kick in, the delay is first based on your wait time: SHORT HAUL (flight of under 1500km) - more than 2 hours MEDIUM HAUL (1500 - 3500km) - more than 3 hours LONG-HAUL (over 3500km) - more than 4 hours ⚠️ WHAT IS CARE & ASSISTANCE? ⚠️ Your airline must provide: * A ‘reasonable’ amount of food and drink via voucher * A means for you to communicate through call & email * Accommodation if you are delayed overnight * Transport to and from the accommodation ⚠️ HOW DOES THAT WORK IN PRACTICE? ⚠️ Whilst in theory, the airline should sort all of this out for you, often passengers are left to fend for themselves so make sure you keep your costs reasonable and keep receipts of EVERYTHING. ⚠️ WHAT ABOUT COMPENSATION? ⚠️ If your flights arrives at your destination more than 3 hours late, they may have to provide compensation if the delay was their fault. The amount you get is based on the length of your flight: 💰 SHORT HAUL - £220 💰 MEDIUM HAUL - £350 💰 LONG-HAUL - £520 But here’s the thing that lots of people do not realise. ‘Arriving’ is not based on landing but the time the first door opens!! ⚠️ HOW DO YOU CLAIM ANY MONEY OWED? ⚠️ For both expenses and compensation, airlines will have to a dedicated page on their website with the details on how you can claim your money back. And that’s the step I’m at now!! I’ll keep you in the loop… 👀 📣 LET ME KNOW… Have you been through this before? And do you think I’ll get my £220 from Wizz Air?!! #compensation #flightdelay #travelhack

Follow @erikankullberg for more money tips. When you're delayed by airlines 🤯🤫 To learn more, search "DOT Airline Customer Service Dashboard". The benefits described in the video apply to the following airlines in cases of "controllable delay": American Delta Southwest United JetBlue Alaska Hawaiian Directly from the DOT: "A controllable flight cancellation or delay is essentially a delay or cancellation caused by the airline. Examples include: maintenance or crew problems; cabin cleaning; baggage loading; and fueling. Airlines are required to adhere to the promises that they make in their customer service plan, including commitments to care for customers in the event of controllable delays or cancellations. The Department will hold airlines accountable if they fail to do so. Remember these commitments do not impact your entitlement to a refund. If an airline cancels a passenger’s flight or makes a significant change in the flight, regardless of the reason, airlines are required to provide a prompt refund to a ticketed passenger, including those with non-refundable tickets, should the passenger choose not to accept the alternative offered, such as rebooking on another flight." ✈️ If your flight gets significantly delayed, you have options!! Sometimes if you’re very delayed, it messes up your entire trip plans and it’s best to cancel that flight and book a different one. But airlines typically don’t let you cancel free of charge— but now with this you can! #dot #delayedflight

If your flight was delayed or cancelled, you aren't just owed an apology; you may be entitled to flight delay compensation of up to €600. That isn't a travel hack; it’s the law. The problem? Airlines don't exactly make it easy to get that flight delay pay. They bury the forms, put you on hold for hours, and hope you’ll just give up. That’s where we come in: We handle all the soul-crushing paperwork. We fight for your rights (even if the airline says "no" at first - and with some airlines, that happens a lot). No Win, No Fee. If we don’t get you your flight cancelled compensation, you don't owe us a cent. It takes about 2 minutes to check if you’re eligible for a payout. Seriously. Stop leaving €600 on the table and go see what you’re owed. Check your flight: Link in Bio. #airhelp #flightdelay #flightcancellation

When your flight gets delayed or cancelled, it’s easy to feel like: “No one cares.” “They’re just messing with us.” “If it was really unsafe, they wouldn’t have boarded us at all.” From the cockpit side, it looks very different. Airlines and pilots don’t like delays either. We’re away from home, missing our own plans, and dealing with the same long days you are. So when a flight doesn’t go as scheduled, it’s almost always tied to one of a few things: • Weather at your airport or somewhere along the route Visibility, wind, thunderstorms, or runway conditions might not meet the strict limits we’re required to follow. • Airplane limitations or maintenance A system might not be working perfectly, and the rules say we either need it fixed or we have to wait, reroute, or sometimes cancel. • Crew duty and fatigue rules There are hard limits on how long we’re allowed to be on duty and flying. Those exist so you never have a tired, overworked crew making decisions in a rush. None of those are about convenience. They’re about margins. From the outside, a delay can feel like, “Why don’t they just go? The weather looks fine to me.” From our side, it’s, “These numbers and rules exist so we don’t gamble with safety— even when that means people are frustrated with us.” You don’t have to like delays or cancellations. But it might help to know that a lot of the time, that annoying change of plans is actually the system doing exactly what it was designed to do: choose safety over schedule. ⸻ #fearofflying #flywithoutfear #aviationfacts #pilotexplains #flightanxiety
