❄️ Powder Report 2/17/26: ❄️ Weather: We received 15” of snow last week, 5-6” today, with around two more feet forecasted to land by Friday. 🥲 🏔️Terrain: This storm brought high winds, so we had to keep a few lifts closed today. With more snow on the way, visitors should expect delays, wind holds, and possible closures. Our ops teams are working diligently to assess and mitigate terrain. 60 people and 4 avalanche dogs were deployed to search for any additional people, but none were found. All 3 that were buried survived. It appears to be only partial burials. Chamonix is well known for dangerous conditions and expert terrain on and off piste. Local avalanche forecasted only moderate risk (2-3 out 5). Chamonix is the oldest ski resort in France and people who go there are informed of the risks beforehand and warnings are all over the mountain. Even the groomers in some areas are pretty wild, and there are over 100 avalanche corridors along the terrain.
