Lots of practice, not just you watching a person do something, which is a route to tutorial hell 📑 Codecademy - have a good free intro SQL course, they have a big production team for their content so it’s usually really good. Then practice, practice, practice. You don’t learn it by watching someone. You get your hands dirty and solve problems you’ll have in the real world with databases and add on the complexity gradually. For those of you looking for alternative options to an expensive coding bootcamp or even if you want to just try out learning programming and don’t want to pay for any courses when you first try it out, this is an amazing resource. The App Academy Open Curriculum is completely free and includes Full-Stack JavaScript Web Development, DSA, Python, SQL, and much more. Sometimes we need a payed program to push us towards are goals, but with dedication and discipline this course can get you quite far. There are projects, video lessons, and exercises. here’s how i learned how to code 👩🏻‍💻👐🏼 even though this process can really be applied to learning anything new. at the start of the semester, i told myself i wanted to at least understand basic programming. you don’t need to know coding in biotech but i thought it’d be a useful skill to have to expand with. i’m still a beginner but now i can actually read code (on a basic level), use functions, and write simple programs. with the help of ai, there’s so much potential for coding beyond that. the best day to start was yesterday so start now ✨
