Birth timing isn’t just about crossing off dates on a calendar, it’s about giving your baby time to fully develop 🧠🫁 From 37 to 40 weeks, huge milestones are still happening. The brain is rapidly growing, the lungs are maturing, and your baby is building the strength they need for life outside the womb. That’s why 39-40 weeks is considered truly full term, not just by date, but by development. So what about going past 40 weeks? It’s more common than most people think, especially for first-time moms. Many healthy pregnancies go to 41 or even 42 weeks. With close monitoring, it can still be safe. Your care provider will keep an eye on things like fluid levels, placenta function, and movement and make a plan that supports both your safety and your baby’s. Save this for later and tag a mama who needs this info 👶✨

Estimated Due Dates - are exactly that! A best guess! So why do we put so much importance on one date? The truth is it gives your healthcare professionals a reason to offer intervention and ‘speed things up’ As a hypnobirthing teacher I always gently remind mums that only 4-5% of babies arrive on their due date. That’s 95-96% who come either before or after!!! Birth is not a deadline, it’s a finely tuned process Which only takes place when you and your baby are ready, guided by perfectly coordinated hormones, including OXYTOCIN. OXYTOCIN works best when you feel calm, safe and unhurried (so deadlines aren’t helpful!) Instead of focussing on one day, plan for a season/month/or if you want to pick a date at least add 2 weeks on to your given due date as a rough date. Trust your body Trust your baby Trust the timing You were made for this 💪🏻 If you’re approaching your edd, what tips do you have for not feeling rushed, share them below to help out another pregnant mama who might be feeling the pressure! Love Charlotte xx #estimatedduedate #mybodymybaby #calmbirth

When contractions start, panic is natural — but preparation

When contractions start, panic is natural — but preparation is powerful. Here are 3 things I always tell my moms NOT to do (backed by science & labour room experience): ❌ Holding your breath or tensing up ✅ Practice deep, slow breathing ✅ Try the in-4, out-6 method ✅ Keeps oxygen flowing to baby ✅ Helps reduce pain and fatigue ❌ Lying flat on your back ✅ Choose upright positions ✅ Squatting, kneeling, leaning forward ✅ Sitting on a birthing ball ✅ Gravity helps baby move down smoothly ❌ Panicking or overthinking every sensation ✅ Create a calm environment ✅ Dim lights and soft music ✅ Support from partner or doula ✅ Focus on one contraction at a time Labour is hard — but it’s not about fighting pain blindly. It’s about understanding your body and working with it 💚 I teach these small mindset + movement shifts to every mom I prepare for normal delivery. 💾 Save this if you’re in your 3rd trimester or planning your birth soon. . #pregnancy #pregnant #momtobe #normaldelivery #reels

You’re about to be a first-time mom. You’re building the registry. Watching the birth videos. Trying to “do it right.” We were pediatric therapists — and we still got it wrong the first time. Because most newborn advice focuses on convenience. Sleep faster. Soothe quicker. Contain more. But neuroscience shows the fastest brain growth of your baby’s life happens in the first weeks. And development isn’t built with gear. It’s built with: Movement. Connection. Reflex integration. Intentional interaction. When we shifted how we supported our newborns, everything changed. Calmer bodies. Easier milestones. More confidence. If you’re pregnant or in the first 12 weeks and want to build strong from Day 1: 👉🏻Follow @ontrackbaby brain-based newborn support.

Clamping the cord straight after birth can leave up to 30% of your baby’s blood in the placenta. If baby is born well and on your chest, you can request delayed cord clamping — even waiting 1–3 minutes makes a difference 🤍 It helps your baby get more oxygen, build stronger iron levels, and transition more gently into the world. Small wait. Big support. #Pregnant #pregnancy #consciousparent #sydney #birth

You don’t have to do everything all at once.
You don’t have to learn everything in one weekend. Birth prep isn’t about cramming information.
It’s about building confidence, one small step at a time. 5 minutes of:
• breathing practice
• learning what contractions are doing
• understanding your options
• relaxing your body adds up. Confidence doesn’t come from panic-googling at 2am.
It comes from consistent, calm preparation. If you want structured, simple prep you can do in minutes a day, my birth prep kit is linked in my bio 🤍 Save this as your reminder: small steps still count. #birtheducation #laboranddeliverynurse #birthprep #firsttimemom #birth

During a contraction, your brain goes somewhere very deep. It’s not distance. It’s not rejection. It’s not a bad mood. It’s biology. 🧠✨ When contractions intensify, the logical part of the brain shuts down. Your body doesn’t need words. It needs silence, safety, and rhythm 🤍 Talking, asking questions, or trying to “fix” things during a contraction can actually pull a mama out of her focus… and make pain feel stronger. 💡 What truly helps? Presence. Breathing together. 👉 A partner who stays close, offers gentle touch or eye contact, and guides a slow rhythm: Inhale through the nose… 🌬️ Long exhale through the mouth… 😮‍💨 Again. And again. No explanations. No questions. Just calm energy and shared breathing. This lowers stress hormones, boosts oxytocin, and allows the body to work with labor instead of fighting it ✨ A partner who knows what to do can completely change the birth experience. 🤍 Inside The Gentle Birth Journey, I teach you step by step: ✨ How to breathe in every stage of labor ✨ What helps — and what blocks — during contractions ✨ How to truly prepare your partner to support you ✨ How to reduce fear, tension, and pain with real, proven techniques If your baby is arriving soon, preparation changes everything. 💬 Comment “GUIDE” and I’ll send it to you. Don’t improvise one of the most important days of your life. Prepare with tools that truly transform ✨🤍 . . . #pregnancyjourney #birthpreparation #naturalbirth #pregnantlife #laboranddelivery

🤰🏽You’re pregnant with your first baby and everyone keeps saying: “Don’t stress, your body was made for this.” Cool. But nobody explains what to do when labor actually starts. So instead you’re lying in bed at 2am wondering: • How will I know when it’s real? • What if I go in too early? • What if I wait too long? • What if I freeze and forget everything? Here’s what changed everything for my private clients 👇🏽 They didn’t just hope for a calm birth. They installed a decision-making system. A plan that answers questions like: → When to stay home vs go in → What to say at triage → How to handle early labor without panicking → What their partner actually needs to DO → How to slow things down when adrenaline hits And once that plan exists? Your nervous system relaxes. Your confidence shows up early. Your partner feels useful. Your brain finally stops spiraling. Because clarity does that. If you’re a first-time mom and you don’t want to white-knuckle labor wondering if you’re “doing it wrong”… 👇🏽 Comment BIRTH I’ll send you the exact strategy I use to prep my private doula clients so they walk into labor calm, prepared, and in control ❤️

Here’s something many people don’t realize… continuous monitors are NOT the only safe option for low-risk labour. 🤯 There are two main ways to monitor baby: electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and intermittent auscultation (IA). The right choice depends on your health, your pregnancy, and how labour is progressing 🤗 Follow 👉🏻 @babytalk.birthnurse for more evidence-based pregnancy and birth education 🥰 ✨ Electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) means the belts stay on your belly continuously (or most of the time), recording baby’s heart rate and your contractions. ✨ It was originally introduced with the hope of preventing conditions like cerebral palsy, but research hasn’t shown that routine continuous monitoring improves outcomes for low-risk births. ✨ That said, EFM is incredibly important in higher-risk situations and gives detailed, real-time information about how baby is tolerating labour. EFM is commonly recommended when there are concerns such as: 🔅 Vaginal bleeding 🔅 Infection in the uterus 🔅 Previous C-section 🔅 Waters broken for a long time (≈24+ hours) 🔅 Induction with oxytocin 🔅 Preterm labour 🔅 Pregnancy past 42 weeks ☀️ Other high risk scenarios. Baby-related reasons can include: 🔅 Meconium (baby passed stool in the fluid) 🔅 Abnormal heart rate on listening 🔅 Twins or multiples 🔅 Breech position 🔅 Low amniotic fluid 🔅 And other risk factors ✨ If none of those apply, many low-risk labours can safely use intermittent auscultation (IA). ✨ IA means your provider listens to baby’s heartbeat with a handheld Doppler for about one minute at regular intervals, usually between contractions (this differs depending on the policy) . No continuous straps required 🙌 ✨ This approach is evidence-based, safe for low-risk pregnancies, and often allows more freedom to move, change positions, use water, and labour in a way that feels natural. ✨ Some hospitals still default to continuous monitoring for everyone, so if mobility matters to you, ask whether you’re a candidate for intermittent monitoring and discuss it ahead of time 💛 Did you have continuous monitoring or intermittent listening in labour? Did you know you might have options? 👇
