Baby boy, Jephte 👑 3 years ago, this week, we laid baby Jephte to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery. He received a funeral escort 🏍️🚓 Hundreds of people pulled over their vehicles and watched in sober honor as we took baby Jephte from the funeral home to the cemetery. He is an Image- bearer, his life had value & purpose 👑 He was named by his mother, Jephte, and his name means “open arms” … and he was received by us that day, with arms outstretched. It has been two months of a rollercoaster ride with grief. I wake up every day with different emotions, but the one emotion that overpowers all is ANGER. I have been angry ever since I walked out of my mother’s funeral. I am angry at how the world keeps going, carrying on its duties and remaining untouched as if no one has died. I am angry at people around me who ask me to be strong and move on as if I have not lost my mother but a tub of ice cream. I am angry at myself for not letting my world pause as if I did not light her pyre with my own hands. I am angry at myself for choosing responsibility over my mental health. I am also angry at God for not just taking my mother away but also my sanity along with her. I am so angry that I have left just offering prayers. Because what is the point anyway? Anger resides in everything I do and everywhere i go. I try. I try. I try to calm down and bring myself back to life but nothing works. It feels as if the funeral also took away every inch of happiness out of me. Nothing makes me happy. Nothing brings me joy. Nobody understands. The world keeps on revolving, people carry on with their lives, the sun rises and sets, and I keep on going too.
