This has no business being this good. Games Workshop really dropped a full-on April Fool’s production with “The Emperor Protects, A Warhammer 40,000 musical” and somehow it actually works. The Trazyn number alone has legit vocals, clean choreography, and lighting that looks like it came out of a real stage show. The cosplay is dialed in too, not the usual throwaway gag you expect from a joke release. For anyone new to Warhammer 40k, this is one of those moments where the community and the IP collide in the best way. You get the absurdity of a Necron collector singing on stage (yes, really, Necrons), but it’s backed by real effort and production value that pulls you in anyway.

This is the kind of detail long-time fans notice instantly. The new starter set mirrors the classic 2nd edition box. Blood Angels front and center, Orks charging straight at them, even the posing and composition feel almost identical. For newer players, this is a callback to one of the most iconic Warhammer 40K starter sets ever made. Space Marines vs Orks has always been the entry point, and Games Workshop clearly knows it still works. It’s a small design choice, but it ties the current edition back to the roots of the hobby in a way that feels intentional. The kind of thing that makes the setting feel consistent no matter when you got into it. Anyone else catch this right away?
