This is what happens if you do... 😨 🇮🇳 #india #varanasi #travel #ganges #indiareels

India's holiest river, 'The Ganga' has sustained and nourished hundreds of millions of people's lives and livelihoods through the centuries. But today, the river is facing a slow death. Over most of its length, the Ganga is dangerously polluted. Unplanned urban and industrial growth have led to the river system's abuse, turning it into a toxic stream at several points during its journey to the sea. The Indian government has launched a massive 'Clean Ganga' project to try and restore the river to its pristine condition. But can Prime Minister Modi save the river when several other leaders before him had failed? @pmo Repost @trek_with_yogi #गंगा #ganga #gangariver #instagramreels #reels #reel #tiktok #fuckplastic #getwasteed #plasticfree #breakfreefromplastic #microplastics #singleuseplastic #recycle #noplastic #plasticpollution #plasticban #banplastic #marinedebris #beachtrash #beachlitter #reuse #reduce

I didn’t expect to find myself at the cremation site during a walking tour that I booked, as I thought it was off limits to tourists, but to my surprise I found myself right in the middle of it. 😳 I was lucky enough to meet an incredible guide Akash, and together we filmed a lot of informational videos about this Holy place, and I hope you like and learn more about not the city of death, but the city of Salvation. #gangesriver #solofemaletraveler #india #varanasi #realtravel

It’s all about perspective. People drink the holy waters of the Ganges to be healed. To a western it’s poison though. #varanasi #india #ganges #gangesriver #banaras

In a shocking display of sanitation neglect, several men were seen openly defecating on the ghats of the Ganges River while devotees bathed nearby in the sacred waters. The incident, captured in a widely shared image, highlights the persistent gap between religious reverence and basic hygiene in parts of India. Despite government campaigns like "Swachh Bharat" (Clean India) and efforts to clean the Ganges, open defecation remains a critical issue in many rural and semi-urban areas. For devout Hindus, bathing in the Ganges is a purifying ritual meant to wash away sins. However, such practices become a serious health hazard when raw sewage and fecal matter contaminate the river. Local authorities have faced criticism for poor enforcement of sanitation laws and inadequate toilet infrastructure along the riverbanks. Health experts warn that exposure to human waste can cause waterborne diseases, including cholera and hepatitis. Religious leaders have also called for urgent action to preserve the river’s sanctity and protect devotees from preventable health risks. . 📩 Credit/Removal: If you are the rightful owner of this content and want credit or removal, please DM us. “I thought i understood death…. Until i saw this in KASHI” . . I was in Varanasi, and I saw something I had never witnessed before. A body floating in the Ganges River, wrapped in banana leaves. I asked a local about it, and he told me that in some traditions—especially in cases like snake bite deaths—bodies are not cremated. Instead, they are offered directly to the river. Some people also believe that after death, a person’s life force can remain in the brain for up to 21 days. Because of this belief, cremation is avoided in such cases. There are even stories that if such a body is found by a tantrik, they could bring it back to life. In Hindu beliefs, certain people—like sadhus, children, pregnant woman’s or those who die in unusual ways—are considered spiritually different, so their last rites are performed differently, sometimes skipping cremation. Banaras really shows you life and death… raw and unfiltered.🔱📿 . . #instagram #kashi #lifeanddeath #varanasi #explorepage Varanasi , Death ritual, Ganga river , Life , Death , Alive, Kashi , Manikarnika , Banaras ghat , Storytelling,
