I had the pleasure of working together with @elderwoodanimation to composite this beautiful clip for @yunuyei ‘s upcoming light novel release “Dragon’s Destiny”. Compositing for the Japanese pipeline is very different from the western animation industry - animation is exported in a specific “unfinished” way to be completed in post-production, including smoothing jagged lines, adding gradients and softening shadows, and making highlights look more glow-y. Of course the usual post-production we are used to, like color correction and 3D camera animation, also play a role here, though the method is quite different. #anime #animation #sakuga #genga #animator Making visuals look atmospheric is my favorite part of any process, both in animation and webcomics!
