HUGE Goldfish! They get really big when they are released into bigger bodies of water. Goldfish are know to grow only as big as their environment allows them to. If you keep them in a small tank they will stay small, if you put them in a lake they will get huge! They get this big because they have a big appetite and love eating our native plants by digging up the sediment to eat the roots. Believe it or not, they actually cause a lot of harm to the environment and our native fish by eating plants that are used by the native fish to lay eggs on, hide in and when they dig up the roots they make the water very murky and lower the oxygen in the water. Best option if your pet goldfish ever passes away is to bag it up and put it in the garbage or bury it and use it as fertilizer in the backyard.
