GOTTFRIED BÖHM 🇩🇪 (1920-2021) Brutalist, controversial and provocative architecture. 🏛️ #architecture #archilovers #design #archdaily #brutalism

Absolutely yes! The iconic Mariendom in Velbert-Neviges by Gottfried Böhm. Unapologetically brutalist, this church completed in 1968 is a must-see for every raw concrete fan ❤️ #brutalism #brutalismus #architecture #architektur #brutalistarchitecture #travel #concrete #architecturephotography #Neviges #travelphotography #Germany

St. Matthäus and St. Hildegardis Parish by Gottfried Böhm, 1970, Düsseldorf-Garath. Brick ground floor, exposed concrete above, with turret-like towers and rounded crenellated walls that reference medieval castle architecture. The chapel St. Hildegardis is a miniature of Böhm’s signature concrete rock, most fully realised at the Pilgrimage Church in Neviges. @maynardarchitect @kevinhui_archimarathon #archimarathon #gottfriedbohm #brutalism #churcharchitecture #dusseldorf @jugend.st.matthaeus

Welcome to Mariendom, Velbert, Germany. 🇩🇪 Definitely one of the most impressive brutalist structures ever. Save the spot and share with your friends! #brutalistarchitecture #brutalist_architecture #brutalistgermany #gottfriedböhm

I hope it’s not rude to say that a church is cool, but this one really felt so special ❤️ The colours, the shapes, the warm bricks, the comfy chairs, and construction started in 1969! That’s fascinating, as it’s brutalism with postmodern elements, even though postmodernism wasn’t really a thing in architecture yet back then. Gottfried Böhm once again showing his immense talent 🧱 Oh, and which church is it actually? St Matthäus in Düsseldorf Garath. Matthäus is my name translated to German, another reason for me to love this place 😍 #Düsseldorf #architecture #architektur #church #brutalism #brutalismus #postmodernism #architecturephotography #travel #gottfriedböhm #Germany

Brutalist Architects You Must Know. Part 1. Claude Parent, a key figure in French brutalism, explored the concept of the « oblique function, » transforming architecture into a dynamic space. His massive, slanted buildings, like the Sainte-Bernadette church in Nevers, challenge spatial conventions, creating an intense physical experience. Gottfried Böhm, a German master of brutalism, merges angular forms with poetry. His works, like the Neviges pilgrimage church, blend raw concrete with expressionism, creating monumental spaces where spirituality and structural intensity converge. 📸 Credits: Eric Rohmer, Claude Lechevalier / Fonds Claude Parent, Laurent Kronental, Gilles Ehrmann, Gottfried Böhm Scholarship, Inge und Arved von der Ropp / Irene und Sigurd Greven Stiftung, Uwe Aranas, Arquine. #architecture #brutalism #design #brutalistarchitecture

#gottfriedböhm #böhm #jesuitchurchofstignatius #brutalism #brutalist #brutalistarchitecture #brutal_architecture #architecture #contemporaryarchitecture #archdaily #archilovers #architecture_hunter #architecturephotography #brutalismo #architetturabrutalista #architetturacontemporanea #arquitetura #frankfurt #frankfurtammain

This is only a tiny part of the Gottfried Böhm’s Parish of St Matthew precinct (1969). There is a noticeable lack of words available to describe the mastery of what Gottfried Böhm has created here. #Archimarathon #ArchimarathonTour #ArchimarathonGermany25 @archimarathon @kevinhui_archimarathon
