The journaling method I have used for years!! I try to do this most days, especially when I am working toward something big. But even when life feels calm and I am not chasing a specific goal, I still do the first two. Reflection and gratitude. Those alone will literally change our brain chemistry and make us happier. Step 1 Reflection Get the chaos out of our heads. Write down what is bothering us and think it through on paper. Sometimes it is something big. Sometimes it is just “why is this boy acting weird.” Either way, get it out. Step 2 Gratitude Write a few things you are grateful for. Big or small. Sunlight on your face. Good coffee. A supportive text. This shifts our mindset from lack to abundance. studios Step 3 Future thinking If I am working toward something, I write about it as if it has already happened. When I was applying to college I literally wrote “I am an Ivy League student” before I had gotten into Brown. But it is not just the outcome, it is the identity. When I was losing 40 pounds I wrote things like “I love going to the gym. I take care of my body.” Even on days I did not feel like it. When we repeatedly write the story of who we are becoming, our brain starts aligning our actions with that identity. Reflection clears our mind Gratitude raises our state Future writing directs our life Try it and let me know how it goes🩷🩷🩷

As someone who was trying to build the habit of journaling for years, this method has helped me finally stay consistent and actually look forward to writing each day. Journaling is not just about writing, it’s about intention. I posted this on TikTok a few months back and I’ve gotten such a great response that I thought I’d share here too 🤲🏻 not my usual what I eat in a day content but journaling is one of those habits that keeps me on track with all my goals, including my nutrition. #journaling #journalingideas #journalinspiration #morningroutine #journalprompts #journalingjourney #selfgrowth

I love my routine! Let’s talk about journaling. 💛 Over a year ago I made a promise to myself: write at least one sentence a day. As a perfectionist, it was very hard for me to let go of goals I wanted to reach or improvement I wanted to make in my mindfulness journey while writing. In the past I made myself write five things I’m grateful for, goals for the day, highlights of the day, mantras, and scriptures EVERY DAY (my silly little brain really did this 🥲). As you can imagine, I quickly quit journaling once the motivation faded away (after 5 days or so) or when I missed a day and got frustrated with myself. To break this useless cycle, I decided to write just one sentence. Once you’re sitting down (accompanied by your handmade cup of coffee 😘), one sentence quickly turns into two and before you know it you’ve got two pages filled. Creating the habit of sitting down with a pen and a journal caused me to fill up a full journal in one year. No boundaries, rules, or resistance. Just my thoughts, ideas, dreams, and goals neatly organized in this little book. Of course I’ve missed a day here and there, but I can’t even begin to explain what daily journaling brought me. Taking a moment to mindfully reflect, dream, focus, regroup, turn inwards, inspect or love.. To me it’s priceless and I would advice everyone to try. ❤️ With love, Jaëlla #mindfulness #journal #ceramics

Do you ever feel like life is moving so fast and it’s hard to be present and grounded? BC SAME. But there’s a daily ritual (that takes less than a minute) that truly helps me feel so much more connected to my life. And what is wild is that I’ve been doing this ritual for FOUR YEARS every single night (with a few skips that I went back to fill out later). This one line a day journal was a holiday gift in 2021 and it’s now one of my most meaningful, cherished possessions. Every day, at the end of the day before bed… I write about something that stood out to me. Sometimes I share joys and highs—other times I share lows and hard moments. Sometimes I document a major milestone—other times (a lot of times) it’s mundane. But the coolest part is that because of the way the journal is formatted… when I’m writing my daily entry, I get to look back at what I was doing the same day last year, and the year before, and the year before, and the year before. For example, one page is January 1 and there is space for 5 entries (for me, the entries are Jan 1 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and {coming soon} 2026…). As of now, this lil journal has over 1,800 memories in it. HOW COOL! This daily practice serves as a reminder of how fast time can fly, how things that felt so big in the moment come and go, how the lows are followed by highs if you just have patience. It also helps me time-travel and reconnect back to the version of me who was living that day one year, two years, three years, or four years ago. GAH, I just can’t recommend having a one line a day journal enough!!!!!! If you’re starting to think ahead for holiday gifts for your sentimental partner, or bestie, or family member, or YOURSELF—I say go for it ❤️🔥 PS—for the sentimental hunnies, I have something fun coming soon to help all of us reflect on 2025 in an intentional way! so keep an eye out for that this week ✨
