Soon after Jessica Currin’s death, Victoria Caldwell suddenly changed her story - implicating two entirely different suspects. But after Mayfield Police botched that investigation, attention shifted when Susan Galbreath, eager for her own sense of purpose, began digging into the case with the help of a BBC reporter. Susan wasn’t a detective. She was a local who leaned on her relationships in Mayfield, pressing vulnerable people for information and feeding it back to police. Her personal quest for fulfillment came at a devastating cost: the wrongful conviction of Quincy Cross. BONE VALLEY: GRAVES COUNTY exposes how a flawed investigation and one woman’s obsession stole decades of Quincy’s life. Listen to Chapter 4: My Girl Susan now, wherever you get your podcasts.

In 2008, Quincy Cross was convicted of a horrific crime—the violent rape and murder of 18-year-old Jessica Currin. The basis for this conviction? The testimony of three girls who have since recanted their stories, saying they lied and Quincy was not involved with the murder. Two of them even signed affidavits about being paid money for their testimonies and being intimidated by Kentucky investigators. Jessica Currin's own father is convinced that Quincy is innocent and wants the real murderer held accountable. But Quincy is still in prison, serving out a life sentence. Hear his story on this week's episode of WRONGFUL CONVICTION with Maggie Freleng. And be sure to tune in next week for the two-episode premiere of BONE VALLEY Season 3: GRAVES COUNTY, Maggie's no-stone-left-unturned exploration of the case that rocked a rural Kentucky county. #TrueCrime #BoneValley #WrongfulConviction
