Something weird… when I look at these photos, particularly the earlier photos, I realise how against the grain it was/is to just let my hair grow out like that! We don’t often see women in their 30’s walking around with three inches of grey hair at their roots. I know people feel that bravery is a word that should be reserved for the more extreme life experiences, but I think it’s also brave to step outside the box and do something most people won’t do. It is a big emotional decision to go grey. Our hair is part of our identity. It’s on show for everyone to see every day. It’s ok to feel scared to go grey. It’s ok to start going grey, change your mind and pick up the dye again. You can choose to do this whenever, however you want. In your own time. If ever at all! Some days have been HARD. Sometimes it’s been difficult looking in the mirror. But overall, I am SO glad I’ve done this. Not to mention being part of the #silversister community! How did I transition to grey? 👩🏻👉🏻👩🏻‍🦳⁣ ⁣ Cold Turkey was the way for me! As in, I did NOTHING. Just good old fashioned time and patience. ⁣ ⁣ BUT there are lots of ways to transition: highlights⁣ lowlights⁣ buzz cut⁣ pixie cut⁣ dye your hair grey ⁣ cold turkey. ⁣ ⁣ What’s the best way? There is none. ⁣ ⁣ There’s no right way. ⁣ ⁣ There’s no wrong way. ⁣ ⁣ There’s just the best way for YOU! ⁣ ⁣ The path you choose has to be the one that YOU feel most comfortable with and that’s sustainable to you.⁣ ⁣ And maybe that changes.
