Here we see wolfdog Ocean muzzling puppy River. It’s looks aggressive but it’s actually not. Muzzling is a correction in dog, wolfdog and wolf language as dogs and wolves express everything through their mouths like us humans use our hands. It does not hurt the other dog and sends a message that the behaviour is not correct. Here youngster River oversteps his pack order by removing Ocean’s toy. He is testing what he can get away with but she is fast to say he’s being rude. Dogs with no muzzle have lost the ability to muzzle, such as pugs and French bulldogs who don’t have a muzzle anyone. They often then bite instead which can get them attacked by other dogs as this is poor behaviour. I personally prefer natural dogs the way nature created them. Wolfdogs GET FEAR PHASES. Yes Wolfdogs are very DIFFERENT to normal dog breeds and this is why I try and educate people on my pages about how HARD it is to have a wolfdog versus a normal dog. Wolves in the wild FEAR HUMANS and Wolfdogs possess recent grey wolf DNA making them also susceptible to FEAR PHASES unless you constantly give them socialisation. You have to DESENSITISE them. The higher the wolf %, often the higher the fear. Many high contents are bottle raised otherwise they would just convert entirely to fear. River is around 50% wolf and at 11 months is starting to show some fear on outings. As he’s so HUGE I’ll need to positively push him through this so I can still safely take him out to busy places. Someone did this to River’s brother and he pined so much (probably wrecked their house) that he was returned for rehoming. They are very tall, huge long legs and yes they can raid your cupboards. I get sent photos all the time by people who think their ‘dogs’ are Wolfdogs when they’re not. It might be the breeder says this to get a higher price or make the puppies sound more exotic. This is dangerous as a normal dog, most likely husky mix can be wrongly euthanised by states due to the wrong content being suggested. Howling for joy! 💙 River enjoying a good howl with me after I first got him at 8 weeks old. River has always been very vocal and loves a good chorus alongside me (my voice is less beautiful) We are off road in a car park just to let everyone know, not a road 💙 (safety first) but the little guy needed lots of cuddles at that age. Zion (gray) and Larka (white) are two wolfdogs! Zion is a mid content, meaning he is between 50-84% gray wolf genetically with the rest being domestic dog. Larka is a high content wolfdog, meaning she has over 85% gray wolf DNA. In fact, Larka’s DNA test showed she is what’s called a “95%+”. This is a wolfdog whose testing did not discover any domestic dog in the genetics. The tests have a 5% margin of error so they can’t say with absolute certainty if the animal is a “pure” wolf or not. The legalities around wolf vs wolfdog ownership are so intense that it’s the safest option for the animals. That being said, just because an animal is 95%+ doesn’t mean they’re for certain a “pure” wolf. Larka’s lineage is known and there is some domestic dog in there! Anyways, Larka is my heart wolf.
