Haka are a variety of ceremonial dances in Māori culture. It is an ancestral war cry. The aggressive facial expressions were meant to scare the opponents, while the cry itself was to lift their own morale and call on God for help to win. ____________________________________________________Over time the use of Haka has changed. The Haka is performed for various reasons: for welcoming distinguished guests, or to acknowledge great achievements, occasions or funerals.
