🌿 Just Starting Out with Flower Hammering? Here are 3 Common Mistakes Beginners Make—and how to fix them! 🔨🌸 1. Using the wrong paper 👉 Fix: Always go for 140lb watercolor paper! It’s thick and absorbent, perfect for soaking up natural pigments without tearing. Avoid glossy or thin paper—it’ll just turn your flowers into soggy blobs. 2. Hammering too softly—or way too hard 👉 Fix: Don’t be afraid to make noise! 💥 Some sturdy plants, like rose leaves or old ferns, need full strength to release their pigment. On the flip side, delicate petals need just a gentle tap. Each plant is different, so test and learn what pressure works best. 3. Using the wrong side of the plant 👉 Fix: Leaves usually print best from the softer underside, where pigment and moisture are more concentrated. The flowers usually give best results from the face side. Always test both sides before committing to your design! 💡 Remember—this is a playful, mindful technique that takes a little practice.
