Day 20 of making sour dough starter with Harper! Bubbles has doubled (and tripled) in size in the 6-12 hour window for the last couple of days. Having said that we are going to try to start baking with it. However, that means, (as long as the starter works) we are done making sour dough starter. Thank you to everyone who has followed along and given us tips and tricks to get us here. We are going to make some of the recipes that you have sent us! Even though we won’t be posting everyday, you should follow us to see what we make. Our sour dough journey isn’t ending. It’s just beginning!

Our sour dough starter smells like nail polish! Help!!

Sour dough starter! Day 5 On day 3 it was giving me a real bad odor and water separation. Thanks to some tips i decreased the water i was adding. Increased the flour and increased the discard. Day 17 of making sour dough starter with Harper. Bubbles continues to double over night. Tried the flat test. It sank immediately except for some lights strings of starter that floated. We just received a suggestion that because it is so cold out and our home may be a little colder than normal that we may want to go with a little warmer than room temp water and switch from All purpose flour back to a wholewheat. Okkk Doughlores!! I see you girl!! She survived 2 days of a freezing cold house because of no power. Due to the storm and not being home, I haven't fed her in 2 days.
