My student Katrina is back in the studio making hats for the racing season applying the techniques that she’s learnt during the workshops that she attended with me in France. Katrina is making hats for clients going to the Kentucky Derby and also supplying a hat shop with some one off couture designs. In this video she’s working with a Buntal straw mat and embellishing the hat with a freeform trim in Parisisal straw. 30 days to build my first hat making workshop. I’ve been noticing a shift lately, less scrolling, more hands on creating and real life connection. I’ve been feeling that too, so I’m acting on it. After making hundreds of hats, I want to teach people how to do it themselves. I’m putting together my first in person workshop in Sydney, figuring it out as I go.
