My husband said the hardest part of me having seizures is the silence waiting for me to come out of them. I was having multiple seizures in a row this time. At the end in a very vulnerable state I cried “I don’t want to have seizures anymore.” I started having absence seizures mid conversation at an event we were at according to Ruben. I was having clusters which is never a great sign. It was hard for him to get me to the car nonchalantly. It’s always embarrassing for me to be having seizures at events. I don’t like making a scene or for anyone to notice and my husband knows that. I had to cut out so much of this video to become more digestible. We record these for my neurologist. We had our two small daughters in the car with us. The oldest has gotten used to “oh mom just doesn’t feel good but she’ll be okay soon.” It makes me so sad for them to witness them. Ruben injects medication through my line as it’s been the best way to stop them. My feet were completely swollen from my seizures forcing my ankles to twist and push into the floorboard dislocating my joints. I dislocate joints easily due to VEDS. This is a reality that I think people should see. Two kids in the back. A husband who had to book it home to get rescue meds we forgot to bring. Me missing out on an event because the lights and overstimulating environment triggered seizures. The sadness of having to deal with epilepsy. I am 1 in 26 people with epilepsy. 1 in 26 people struggle with moments like this and some even pass away due to SUDEP. 1 in 10 people have a seizure in their lifetime.
