9.17.25 | by Adam | BROOKLYN - A five-alarm fire broke out at a commercial building in Red Hook at approximately 11:35 PM on Wednesday night. The building, which houses multiple artist studios, was filled with heavy smoke billowing from the front windows. Local artists reported that the space was preparing for the upcoming "Red Hook Open Studios" event, scheduled to take place in a few weeks. The fire's impact on the event remains uncertain. By around 2:00 AM, flames erupted through the roof and rear windows of the structure. The FDNY Marine Boat Unit intervened, successfully suppressing the rooftop flames. At least two firefighters received medical attention from EMS at the scene. One was observed being escorted to an ambulance, though it is unclear if hospitalization was required.
