When we bought our first home almost three years ago, we were so excited to finally be able to put our own style into a space after only ever renting and moving often. But renovating a home by ourselves with kids, a job, and normal life happening is no small task. It’s so hard for me to have vision for a space and not be able to act on it right away. Or just have to let it go all together. 😅 But I’ve learned through this process that adding character slowly and sitting on ideas for a little while is usually better in the long run. Some ideas I had when we first moved in turned out to not be as practical as I initially thought. Or on the other hand, ideas I’ve had from the beginning that are still on my mind might actually be worth pursuing! While I would love new cabinets & countertops, that’s just not in the cards for us anytime soon. But I’m so proud of this little kitchen and what we’ve been able to create with what we can! This weekend we added crown on the ceilings, our coffee hutch & cabinets. Originally I was thinking we’d build new cabinets or take them to ceiling, and who knows, we still might one day.. but for now, this was such a simple & affordable way to give this space more character. ✨ #homemaking #reno #simplejoys #kitcheninspiration
