And before the Karen’s inevitably come for me in the comments, I’m not saying home Ed is the right route for everyone. It’s not. All my friends with kids the same age as ours have sending their children to school. And I’m buzzed for them and their offer choices because it’s what they feel is best for their child. And that’s literally all that matters. Everyone’s opinions are theirs and they’re valid. Mine relates to my personal experiences of school and how drastic funding cuts, an outdated curriculum and a broken system do not a healthy learning environment make. I cannot wait for our journey together. Is it going to be amazing. Yes. Is it going to be bloody hard. YES. But oh SO worth it ⭐️ #homeeducation #schoolofferday #primaryschool #homeed #homeedfamily

No one educational system can suit all children. We are lucky that there are so many legal educational options in our country to choose from to suit different children and different leaning styles. For so many children home education is a lifeline. I want to raise awareness of why this is an amazing option for some child. This isn’t a slight on anyone who chooses school, it is just a different option for those who can’t access school, or who learn more affectively in a different environment. All that matters is that whatever a parent chooses, it suits their child and helps them flourish. Let’s try to all support others no matter which one they choose. I will continue to post options so parents know all their choices abd can choose what they think would get best for their child ❤️ #homeeducation #homeeducationuk #homeeduk #educationuk #homeed

For more like this, find The Life Without School Podcast wherever you like to listen 🎧 💛 One of the biggest fears in home educating is that one day your child will look at you and say - you know what, I wish you’d just sent me to school. But do you know what the research on regret tells us? We think we’ll regret the risks we took. The things we did that didn’t turn out all that great. But that’s not what the data says. Psychologists have been studying regret for a long time, and it doesn’t work the way we think it does. The regrets that really stick - the ones we carry for longest - aren’t the things we did. They’re the things we didn’t do. The gut feelings we didn’t act on. The opportunity to do something important that we didn’t take. Psychologists call it inaction regret. And that outlasts pretty much everything else. So yes, ask yourself whether choosing to home educate your children might be something you regret. But ask yourself the reverse, too. Will you regret knowing that something wasn’t working for your child, that school probably wasn’t the right place for your child, that there was probably a better lifestyle choice for your child, and not doing anything about it? Because I can promise that will hurt later. #homeschooling #unschooling #homeeducation #lifewithoutschool #homeed

Sure, a lot of our people pleasing is the result of punitive parenting but a HUGE amount is also from mainstream education. The important difference is that school is an *institutionalised* people pleasing machine - as a society we’ve all gone “yep let’s build this toxic box and put our kids in it.” People pleasing is a school wound that ends with me. Hands up below if you are a recovering people pleaser 🙋♀️ And message me about my course DISCO going live in July if you are open to raising your kids without school and want support! ❤️ I’m here to help you untangle the beliefs you have about learning and team up with you to give you the confidence you need to give your child a learning experience based on curiosity and connection - not coercion!

I started teaching Sofia (my daughter) to read at age 2 not because I had loads of time, but because I’d seen too many children struggling in school 😔 I was on mat leave. It was lockdown 🦠 I had a newborn 👶 We were house-hunting 🏡 Living at my mum’s 👵 Total chaos 😅 But I knew how important early reading was. I’d spent years in classrooms watching bright kids lose confidence simply because reading didn’t come easily. I didn’t want that for her. So I committed to just 5 minutes a day. That’s it. At age 2. By 3, she was reading books 📚 And now… age 7… Her school report just landed. She’s officially a greater depth reader, meaning she’s not just meeting expectations, she’s flying beyond them 🚀 But what makes me most proud? She loves reading. She finds joy in books. That’s everything ❤️ 🧠 A Harvard study using MRI scans found that the reading part of the brain is already developing by 18 months. Reading starts before the classroom and even before birth. If you want to know where to begin, it’s not with ABCs. It starts with blending. ✨ Drop the word “FIRST” below and I’ll send you a FREE 12-minute video that will change how you teach your child to read, forever. #readwithme #earlyreading #phonicsfun #blendingbasics #resilientreader #parentingwin #phonicsforkids #schoolready #learningisfun #readingjourney #mumlifeuk #readinglove #homeed #adhd #dyslexia #reading #phonicsfun #readingrevolution #toddleractivities
