When I first started hosting, I thought everything had to be done perfectly for it to count. That meant cooking everything from scratch, waiting until the last minute so everything was “fresh,” making sure the house was completely clean, and feeling like the entire experience had to impress people. And it was exhausting. If hosting has ever felt overwhelming to you, it’s probably because you’ve felt that same pressure. Over time, I realized most of that effort wasn’t what made people feel welcome in the first place. ✨ You don’t have to make everything from scratch. ✨You don’t have to wait until the last minute for food to taste good. ✨ You don’t need a perfectly clean home. ✨ And you don’t need everything to look finished or flawless before inviting people in. Hosting, at its core, is an act of service. You can serve people beautifully with good, simple food, a menu that doesn’t wear you out, and a home that looks like people actually live in it. After 20 years of hosting, I’ve learned it’s far less about impressing people and far more about enjoying them. It’s about making them feel comfortable, wanted, and at home in yours. 🤍 #entertainingathome #hostingtips #homeentertaining #welcominghome #hostesslife

Affordable hosting rules I swear by 🤍 (these make things feel special without the spend) 1. Taper candles. More high-impact than anything else and also add to the atmosphere. Avoid the stark white ones, instead pop over to Primark, Flying Tiger, H&M etc - they have beautiful, affordable options. I love the slim ones at the top. 2. Grow your own flowers. Even with a small garden or balcony, cosmos from seed (Feb–March) gives you endless cut flowers all summer - so easy to grow. Affordable and feels like luxury. 3. A main that can rest. Lasagne, baked veg, or something slow-cooked. Affordable, crowd-pleasing, and lets you actually enjoy your guests. 4. Containers + prep. I bought simple containers on Amazon that I reuse every dinner party. Dressings / garnishes / sides → label with post-its. Prep now, relax later. 5. DIY menus & place cards. Coloured paper + watercolour paint = chic, personal, inexpensive. A £3 sheet of card can elevate the whole table. 6. Mix-and-match plates (my Vinted/charity shop strategy). I started by buying coloured side plates on Vinted and layering them over plain white. They don’t need to match - the whimsical mix adds charm and interest. Hosting doesn’t need to be expensive - just intentional. Any of these you use or anything else you swear by? 🤍

Party Hacks

Do you hate hosting gatherings in your home?! D

Party Hacks Do you hate hosting gatherings in your home?! Don’t worry, I used to be just like you! In a former life, I hated playing hostess. I hated cooking, I hated the mess, and I always felt overwhelmed. And then one day, I decided to change my mindset about hosting, and EVERYTHING changed. Here are three hacks to help you enjoy hosting parties in your home! 1️⃣ HIRE OUT! Choose the ONE thing you dislike the very most, and hire it out. If you don’t have the budget, ASK for help! For me, the number one thing I dislike about hosting parties is the FOOD. I don’t enjoy the cooking, the cleaning, the mess. So for my husband’s 40th birthday party, I hired the food out! It was incredible, and the entire spread was a huge hit! The details and quality were out of this world. Listen, I can do a lot of things on my own. But I know my limits, and I am here to tell you that choosing one thing to outsource to someone else will change the game! 2️⃣ EVERYTHING CLEANS UP! Remember that there is no mess that can’t be cleaned up. I’m not afraid of my house getting messy or dirty anymore from guests because I know there is no mess in the world that I can’t conquer. Bonus points if you have someone close to you who you can rely on to help you clean up. My husband and I have a pretty great system to cleaning up after parties, and it goes quick! 3️⃣ KEEP IT SIMPLE! I’ve let myself get so bogged down by going overboard one too many times. Most guests don’t care about extravagance. Sure, cute little details are usually noticed and appreciated, but know your limits! Keeping your parties simple with a focus on the purpose will help you enjoy having guests in your home. ❤️ I hope this helps encourage you to open your home more and ENJOY it! PS: You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a charcuterie board. And that’s pretty much the same thing. 😜 #partyhacks #threepartyhacks #gatherings #parties #hosting #hostess #home #marriage

If you’re new to hosting, read this before your next party 👀 The biggest mistakes I see: • Making a menu that belongs on a cooking show • Forgetting that humans need space to… exist • Thinking you have to do it all yourself to be a “good” host Here’s the truth: Your guests don’t remember the food, they remember the feeling. And the feeling starts with a host who isn’t overwhelmed. Keep the menu simple. Make sure the space flows. Accept help when you can 💛 Comment “HOST” if you’re ready to level up your hosting game.

It’s stupid simple… Host like it’s a Thursday night. Most people think hosting has to be a whole thing. Clean the entire house. Make a full menu. Light the candles. Get it just right. That’s why they rarely do it. The homes people keep coming back to don’t run like that. They feel like a normal night… just shared. More people around the table. Louder. Completely lovely. Dinner is simple. The house looks lived in. The host is sitting down, not managing everything. Everyone is present and in the room. It works because it’s easy to repeat. It works because people can relax. If hosting has ever felt intimidating, it’s not you. It’s the version of hosting you were shown. There’s a better way to do this, and it starts by treating it like any other night of the week. Nodding along? Come binge my content for simple, cozy ways to host without the pressure. 😍

I stopped saying “Oh no, I’m fine” when guests offered to help… and everything changed. For a long time, I thought good hosting meant doing it all myself. Holding the plates. Refilling the drinks. Running back and forth to the kitchen. Missing half the conversations. And smiling through it 😅 Now, when someone asks, “How can I help?” I actually let them. I might ask them to… Open the drinks or add ice to coolers. Set out or fold napkins. Light the candles. Start the music. Slice the bread. Carry something to the table or buffet. Sit with me and chop while I finish up. Prep something for dessert. Give a headcount for silverware. Nothing big. Nothing complicated. Just shared life. People don’t offer to help because they feel awkward. They offer because they want to belong in your home. Let them. Letting guests participate doesn’t make you unprepared. It makes your gathering feel warm, relaxed, and real. This is what hosting differently looks like. Less pressure. More presence. More connection. Save this for your next gathering 🤍 and come along for a gentler way to invite people into your home.

HOSTING TIPS• make post-its and a sharpie your best friend 📝 something as simple as selecting your serving dishes ahead of time + labeling them per dish you’re serving that relieves so much stress. You won’t be cramming last minute trying to grab your dishes when it’s time to serve AND my favorite part- when guests/friends/family are trying to help you serve this eliminates all the “where does this go” question. By having a label on every dish- it’s such an easy direction to follow without actually giving direction. This also allows you to really thoughtfully select each dish when you want to stick to a theme. Mixing and matching, etc. HAPPY HOSTING! 📝 •silver dishes- linked on @amazon storefront •green dishes- linked on LTK from @walmart •blue rim dishes- from @homegoods •cream dishes- from @target •transparent labels @postit + a brown @sharpie #hosting #hostess #host #tipsandtricks #kitchen #home #cooking #foodstyling #foodstyle #foodblogger #foodie #foodstagram #food #howto #dishes #serve #inthekitchen #tablescape
