Want to think like a quant trader? Start with the right books. Quant trading isn’t about indicators — it’s about probability, data, risk, and decision-making at scale. In this video, I break down 5 books that help build the mindset and foundation every aspiring quant needs. These are books that train how you think, not just how you trade. Knowledge compounds, just like capital. Save this if you’re serious about quant trading. Master the markets with the books every quant swears by From John Hull’s derivatives bible to Wilmott’s mathematical intuition, Ernest Chan’s algorithmic trading playbooks, and López de Prado’s financial machine learning edge—these titles shape real-world trading, risk modeling, and systematic investing. Everybody's got their top books on trading. Most of them are just bookshelf decorations. They look good on a YouTube video and Zoom, but they've never actually been read. And most trading gurus are complete phonies. Today I'm laying out the books that actually matter, at least to me because these books shaped me. These books shaped trading legends. https://youtu.be/2jaxcW0ZVH4

If you’re serious about quant trading, March shouldn’t be random studying. It should be structured, deliberate and tied to both interviews and markets. 1. Interview question reps (non-negotiable). This is the highest ROI activity. Probability, combinatorics, conditional reasoning, expected value, mental math. Not passive reading, timed problem solving. The goal is pattern recognition under pressure. Quant interviews reward modelling clarity, not memorised formulas. 30–45 minutes daily minimum. 2. Study March economic events like a quant. CPI, FOMC decisions, payroll data, earnings releases. Don’t predict outcomes. Ask: what distribution of outcomes is implied? How would volatility shift? What conditional probabilities matter? Train yourself to think in terms of scenarios and regimes rather than opinions. 3. Build Python projects tied to randomness. Start simple. Simulate coin flips, dice, Poisson arrivals. Then implement a Monte Carlo model using geometric Brownian motion. Focus on understanding volatility, drift and randomness, not fancy visuals. Quants don’t guess; they simulate. 4. Linear algebra + risk intuition. Understand covariance matrices and why correlation structure drives portfolio risk. Learn what eigenvalues represent in PCA. You don’t need proofs, you need intuition about factor exposure and dimensionality reduction. 5. Speed + conditioning. Mental math, log comparisons, exponent approximations. Interviews are timed. Markets are fast. Precision under constraint is trained, not innate. March isn’t about doing everything. It’s about building the core stack: probability → modelling → implementation → speed. If you train like this for 30 days, you won’t feel “from zero” anymore. Comment “MARCH” and I’ll DM you the full 30-day structured breakdown. Save this. Follow for April’s plan. #quant #quanttrading #trading #python #finance

Collated Quantitative Finance Book Recommendations Part 2. Most are advanced books that either myself or colleagues (Citadel, Optiver) of mine found to be the most useful throughout our Quant Careers (thus far). For context our backgrounds are all in Quant Research and Model Development & not Quant Trading or Quant Dev, the books reflect the Quant Research role. We lean heavily on Advanced Mathematics as well as financial applications of that Maths. #quant #ai #quantfinance #datascience #investing

99% traders lose money because they trade with emotions. The remaining 1% trade with DATA. 📊 That’s exactly what Quant Trading is. Instead of guessing the market, Quant traders: ✔ Analyze price data ✔ Find repeating patterns ✔ Create trading algorithms ✔ Backtest strategies ✔ Trade with logic, not emotions No hype. No gambling. Just Math + Statistics + Data. This is how hedge funds and big institutions actually trade. 💰 If you want to move from random trading → professional trading, you must understand Quant Thinking.
