AP > IB (in the 🇺🇸) If you want the best odds of getting into an IV league college, you need to have control over your grades when you apply. IB gives you a predicted score when you apply to college, as opposed to a real exam score that you get from AP. A predicted score puts you at the mercy of teachers who may not always like you, and gives you a risk of having a lower score than your actual performance. Would suggest when you apply. For that reason if you’re in the US, I would choose AP>IB however, if you were outside the US, IB gives you a Standard for your curriculum in grades that American colleges will actually understand so it’s worth taking.

Was the IB program WORTH it? I made my decision to pursue the IB Diploma at the end of my sophomore year of high school, and although it made my resume look better as a university applicant, it was definitely very rigorous and consumed a significant portion of my junior and senior years. For that reason, in tandem with the fact that my resume without it would have still been pretty competitive, I can’t say outright that I would do it again given the opportunity. . . .
