Hello and welcome to my skating account! Here I'll be posting my progress of ice skating from a beginner. I'm currently self taught but will be taking up lessons within the next couple of weeks. We'll start off by showing my very first attempt of backwards lemons to work on the backwards movement. (I already knew how to skate forwards as the VERY basics so we'll start here.) Keeping rhythm both in my timing and in my mind🦋 Typically the only thing going through my head as I go into jumps is the phrase “do it”. If I think about too many things at once, I lose the focus of actually pulling in. Concentrating on the simple words “do it” helps my brain rely on muscle memory and lock into the grit of doing it no matter what. This type of grit is the perfect dose of adrenaline for me these days and I feel so good skating when I do this!💛🦋 *This is also the only phrase I allow to run through my head when I’m nervous performing! Friendly reminder that all of those Olympic figure skaters that you just saw on TV were beginner figure skaters once too! No one stepped onto the ice for the first time and could instantly do a triple!
