She has learned so well. Honestly, I don't even know why she started doing this. I noticed when talking to her that she would do the Indian head nod flawlessly. I never taught her that and she must have picked it up by watching others. Regardless, I think it is incredibly adorable. I started recording her doing it because she was just doing it so often. This little American girl has become so Indianized. I love to see it! But seriously guys, how cute is she? 🥰 #headnod #sidenod #indianisms #thirdcukturekid #livingabroad

Continuing to share our experience of moving back to India after 15 (for me and 17 for my husband) years, this time about how our daughter, Gauri, adjusting to the move. We moved day after she turned 3, and having been born and brought up in SF, she missed her parks and wants to always wear full sleeves! But overall, the transition has been pretty good- she started her school a month after we moved and the method was all play based, no uniforms, no bags- full day schedule. Which is what she was used to.. she’s loving autos, cows on the streets among other things.. she still sings Jungle jungle baat chali hai in her cute accent, but sure that’s going away anytime now. I realize the younger you are, the easier it is to adjust to a new city. I’ve met expats or repatriates who have kids ranging from babies to tweens and none of them have regretted their decision to move to India. Obviously there have been outliers.. but overall, it’s been increasingly positive! So here’s to raising her (at least for now) in the madness that her dad and I grew up in.. #returntoindia #movebacktoindia #movingacrosstheworld #movewithkids #americankidinindia #nrinomore
